Tudor Pelagos - is any discount plausible?
I'm in the UK and aiming to buy a Pelagos soon - I see them in various ADs all the time, so there's certainly no shortage to speak of. I know it's tough/impossible to negotiate discounts on a lot of Rolex models, but would the same hold for Tudor?

Possibly on the 'standard' black dial, yes. On the LHD black dial, or the blue dial, I think not. Those pieces tend to sell fairly quickly.
Which one are you going for? I have had the LHD and the blue.

I don't think it's impossible, depending on how much you're looking to take off.

I would definitely press for at least 10% discount even for blue dial models.
I’ve seen them sitting in AD windows for months. |

Realizing this is a 5 month old thread, this info might still help someone
it depends on the time of year. I just purch'd a Blue Pelagos on Feb 10th from a local AD. I do not like gray market dealers on a new watch. Here in the US, our tax returns are due April 15th, and a lot of folks are not only paying off credit card debt (fm christmas gift purchases) a lot don't know what their income tax bill will be, so there's double pressure to not spend unnecessay money. A lifetime ago i worked in an auto dealership- both the front end sales were dead in the Jan to April time window, as well as repairs in the svc dept. Remembering that, after asking if they had any room on the price, and their response they could do a little, i pointed out to the AD that this had to be a slow time of the year for them, plus the fact that the Tudor Pelagos is available on Amazon (from gray market dealers) for as low as $3637 USD (US Retail is $4575). They got upset that they wouldn't respond to online sales quotes etc .... i let them get it out of their system and said real nicely, put yourself in my shoes - that is a major difference in price, and it's amazon for god's sake, so security of purchase is not a concern, hell if it's not exactly as describe, amazon emails me a return shipping label to return it. The manager finally said "make an offer" - i offered $4,000 and got it for that price. If it had been in a stronger market (time of the year wise) i wouldn't have the pressure on my side like i did. But that was a 12.6% discount from a brick & mortar high end AD |
