How many of you are into shoes... (Dress Shoes)?

Thanks Dan!

They feel nice out of the box.

A smidge loose. Prior shoes were lace ups.

Will break them in / possibly ask for the flap to be adjusted.

Can anyone recommend a pair of well made Chelsea boots that come in extra-wide size (EEE)? Looking for brown leather, not suede. There's a pair at Allen Edmonds that I'm eying but it's one of their models made overseas and seems to have mixed reviews, mostly about quality issues.

Sorry, that size is out of my wheelhouse. Styleforum would be a great place to check on all thing shoes and boots however.

I could go on about Allen Edmunds but one thing they were always good at was wider sizes and customer support. If customer support is anything like it used to be they should still work with you if you should have any issues. This should include even if you happen to need to return them just because it's not a good fit.

Then again it's been awhile since I had anything whatsoever to do with Allen Edmonds and I would still refer you to Styleforum for not only questions with regards to Allen Edmonds but potentially other brands which might work for you.

The need for width is what drew me to Alden and their shoes on the “Barrie” last. I’ve had to size up on other brands meaning my shoes were typically too long for my feet. Then I found
be$poke .

Yeah, I wasn't sure how wide Alden would go. Do know Allen Edmonds and even stores up to one point carried very wide sized Allen Edmonds. That was until they recognized it just simply cost them too much too stock all of those sizes. Anyway even though stores like Nordstroms no long stock them Allen Edmonds still sells very wide shoes when some shoemakers don't even sell them.

Alden has a few lasts that run very wide ( Barrie,Trubalance) if you like the style , try one of their shops or Moulded shoe in NYC , they have the largest selection of Tbalance and Modified last in wider sizes , however they're not very elegant or refined lasts IMO.

Agreed on the point about The Barrie last not being elegant. I feel like I have boat shoes on compared to my Cleverley Bespoke pairs. Pretty comfy though.

With Bespoke, the shoemaker can make even my short fat/flat feet look sleek in shoes which fit more like socks. For that, you pay a pretty penny.

Traditionally that's true for American shoemakers in general and that's why I decided to buy more from shoemakers elsewhere. EG not the sleekest but GG certainly is more sleek. I think Italian tend to be more so but EG and G&G work better for me.

I’m a Barrie last for the best fit. I used to wear Allen Edmonds for the wide width, but since they were sold much of the product is made overseas and the quality of the US made product isn’t what it used to be. I wear Aldens now and I’m not ready for bespoke.

I bought a double monk strap shoe from Ace Marks - I learned of it from a Youtube video. Shoes are Italian and well made, cost $300, and I believe Ace Marks has wide sizes, you will have to check their website.

Great choice. Initially I just went to the bottom of the page. Before even seeing the post above this one I could tell they were C&Js.

Thanks!

Galway is next on my list, still need to feel comfortable spending €1400 on rosewood Galways. It is another level for sure.

Cleaning my Red Wings after my Scotland camping trip

They're quite different from the C&J, both are nice though.
