SS Yachtmaster with blue dial? I've seen no fewer than a dozen of those in my travels through the UAE and Turkey over the past couple months. Shouldn't be tough to get.

Exactly, and as for the comment that IWC's "quality" is somehow lacking compared to a Rolex...

I saw a couple of the new Seamaster 300s in the flesh last week. Cosmetically wonderful (although I could live without the helium valve). METAS certified, co-axial movement. I struggle to see the logic in paying double for a Sub...

I really dig IWC watches. Only problem is that the ones I really like are way too big for my 7 1/4 inch wrists. Even the Mark 18 -- 40 MM -- wears bigger than my sub.

Yep variety is the spice of life. I love all kinds of women no matter their background just like watches.

You don't know until you try and it seems like many on here have not ventured out of their 2 x 1 meter circle.

IWC is a fantastic brand. They have many excellent watches. So which one did you get?

I’m sure there are people around the glove who are doing what you did every day. They may not even know it.

I was at my AD two days ago and when I looked in their display case they only had two SS sports models. One a gold sub and the other a YM. They had a very large selection of DJ’s and that’s about it. But I bet that promotes other watch sales for a lot of folks.

Yeah, depreciation is a huge issue for IWC.

I bought an IWC years before I ever bought a Rolex. You shouldn't blame Rolex, you should thank them.

That's assuming you intend to resell a watch. There are those of us who only buy what we like and never resell.

I will agree with those who said iwc is great brand - I had quite a few of their watches, and they can be interesting and superb. I am not going to part with my Big Pilot... unless I absolutely have to.

I never bought a watch for its resale value.

Congrats!
My first “nice” watch was an aquatimer, I still have it. Which model did you get?

Sounds like your attitude may have gotten in your way with this one....

116622 isn’t hard to find. When I picked up my 116500 about a month back my AD had both the full size and mid size versions in the display case.

If the Rolex store has 20 employee standing there, you’d better believe they have watches to sell that aren’t in the case. Otherwise staff would likely be sent home. It’s just basic business economics.... I’d bet that a respectful and humble conversation with a sales rep could have returned what you are looking for.

Of we’ll, at least you got an iwc out of it

Congrats !!!!
IWC is a fine choice ...
Wear it health and when the opportunity
presents itself to upgrade to the yachtmaster
you can do it !!!

I believe you should have no problem offloading
the IWC as they are still a high quality timepiece.

I love my IWC tzc. It's no longer made, so a cool semi-vintage look. It's the only watch I have on a strap and makes for a fun suit/tie piece. It's the runt of the litter at 39mm but makes it kind of cool too.
Enjoy it what got. They are a very nice looking watch. You'll need something to wear when others are in for service anyway...

Yes for all those who buy new watches only to sell them...
And someone who think IWC quality is not up to Rolex has clearly never touched any IWC watch

I don't think Rolex will make me buy other watches but I'm sure they can't prevent me from buying other watches.

Would love to see the IWC watch. Pic please!

I want to buy a blue face 116622 but cannot find one anywhere. I am not a muppet so will not pay > RRP.

I was so frustrated I bought a blue face IWC instead. Damn you Rolex.

Indeed Sir! The world can be a happier place if one doesn't get hung up on resale value. Luxury goods are for pure enjoyment. Focus on your investment portfolio if you want to make real money. I'm considering an Omega as my next purchase. Can't fight the watch market, so need to move on. Cheers!

Just to offer some balance here. I think a Rolex is that special and I don’t think there is a brand that offers a better timepiece. Now I know to a degree that this argument is subjective but I think for the price point it is difficult to match a Rolex in terms of the movement, the finishing, the durability, reliability, the history and the overall iconic nature of the brand. Now some commentators are discussing how some arguments will go back to the resale value of the watch. I’m not going to use the resale value argument but will just point out that the fact a Rolex holds its value reflects the other more important qualities of a Rolex watch that I’ve listed.

Having said that IWC do offer two models that are classics: the Portugieser and the Big Pilot. I’d never buy either but I like the history of both. However, the OP doesn’t say which model was bought. In my view it it was anything other than the two models I mentioned then (in my opinion) it was an ill advised rash purchase.
