Some fun facts about the Explorer II in this poll. It is the only watch on the list to be ranked in all 5 positions. 24 people ranked it first or second. The Submariner (as expected) was ranked the highest, but the Explorer II held it's own with an average ranking of 2.3.

Well noticed, Mike !

I've always thought about this fact as the Explorer II is hardly top on the list for most people but was virtually never really "rejected" but anyone !!

My personal fun fact about it is that 2 or 3 times I headed to a Rolex AD to maybe give it a chance and buy one (Polar only) but never ended up doing it ! I mostly try to give it a chance but I always prioritize some other models !

Regarding my top 5:

1 - GMT Master II
2 - Submariner
3 - Daytona
4 - Explorer II (Polar Only)
5 - Sea Dweller/SDDS

would not be my top 5, but of the 5 listed, here's my order:

Submariner is definitely first
Explorer 2 is second, and a good compliment to the sub.

Explorer 1 is third, but well behind the Explorer 2

Milgauss is 4th, and not a watch I'm interested in owning

Air King is a distant last, and has never peaked my interest.

Per the instructions, using only the five mentioned, and not the whole Rolex lineup I would rank them:

1. Explorer II (polar)
2. Sub/ EXP1
3. Explorer II (black dial)

19. Milguass

43. AK

I totally get that Fabio. There are so many amazing that you have to prioritize. The Polar Explorer II was the watch that got me into Rolex and somehow I've never owned it! It's high on my list but the BLRO is up next for me. Next one in is mine. But after that will probably be the Polar....finally.

That's some Explorer II love......just after a gentleman who ranked it dead last. To each their own. I've found over the years that there is a strong following for every model.

This is my personal ranking of desirability, which also seems to correspond with how desirable they are to customers in general based on what I've seen (or, rather, not seen) in display cases and heard from dealers:

1. Submariner
2. Explorer 39mm
2. Explorer II (white dial followed by the black)
3. Blue Milgauss
5. Air King

It’s not my favorite of all Rolex but it is the one I would get next if I ever get a second one. My favorite, which I chose over all others when I bought it, was not listed as an option.

I thought we only had the 5 to work with? Or did I misunderstand the question as where we put our own favorite top 5?

1. Submariner
2. Explorer
3. Explorer II
4. Air King
5. Blue Milgauss

First 2 are leagues above the rest. I love the Milgauss GV but not the blue dial version. I'm not a big fan of the new Explorer II and the Air King is a confused watch.

None are desirable to me, so from less undesirable to more undesirable order:

1. Explorer 39mm
2. Blue Milgauss
3. Submariner
4. Explorer II
5. Air king
