Submariner Query
I am thinking of buying Rolex Submariner 114060. I love cyclops but for some reason those particular Submariner models without a date window let alone a cyclops make themselves draw a fancy feeling than their cyclops variants. I don't know why may be it must be because of more symmetrical look of the dial due to lack of cyclops or date aperture.
So, my question is what would you do if you wanted to buy one of these? Wait until Rolex utilizes a new movement to have a reserve of 3 days or not wait buy instantly I know 124060 doesn't exist as of yet but my assumption is that Rolex would name as 124060 when they refresh the Submariner model line

IMO the power reserve on the sub (3130 movement ) is more than enough. Just wind it and you're good to go.

Is a 3 day power reserve Sub on the cards? I've not heard of this. In any case I agree with Dave - get the current model. It's got more than enough power reserve and if not, it's a joy to wind. It's also easy to set if the mainspring runs down - no date or pesky GMT hand to fiddle around with. Simplicity itself. The quintessential Rolex because it lacks gimmicky complications (like a date ).

Who knows when Rolex will update the Submariner movement. The question you should ask yourself is this: "Do I really need three days worth of reserve?" The extra days worth of reserve would be nice, I guess, but I have no problem winding/setting the time after my 14060m stops. As an aside, one of the things I love about my Speedy Pro is that it is manual and the daily winding in the morning let's me reflect on the watch for a few precious moments.
If it were me and I really liked the current 114060 model, I would pull the trigger now. Who you decide to buy from is a different story. If you decide to go outside the Rolex AD network, make sure you buy from a Trusted Seller here on the forum. Best of luck and share some pictures when you make the purchase.

Live for today. Buy it now. Start enjoying it now. It may be many more years before the new version comes out. Besides, IMO, new movement + increased pricing does not excite me at all. The current movement is good enough. YMMV. When the new sub comes out, there will be a crazy waiting list. Depending on your influence or luck, you may not get one for a very long time.

If you want it, buy it. is an extra 24 hours power reserve really going to make that much difference to your life?

I was faced with the same decision a few months ago and ended up buying the 114060. In the end the power reserves is more than enough for me and the movement is tried and true. While I'm sure whatever movement gets put into the next Sub will be reliable, if they even change it...it will have yet to be proven over time like the 3130 is.

Just buy it and wear all the time. This will guarantee unlimited power reserve.

Get it now. The new movement is not worth the wait and the current movement is great.

"I am thinking of buying Rolex Submariner 114060."
The issue here is in your words selection, "thinking"... It seems as you are not fully decided, my recommendation is wait. Maybe look at other Rolex models. When I saw 114060, I knew I HAD to have one. And I did not regret my decision. |

I know this is not in the options but...for a bad ass dive watch with the spectacular new movement, I would get the SD43.

For a piece without a date, or other complications, the power reserve of 48h is plenty, IMO. It's so simple to wind and set the time without dealing with AM/PM for the date etc. Just get the 114060

No, wait for the 96 hour power reserve Sub 1240600 coming in 2030. Then you'll have the very latest and greatest.
Seriously, life is short, go now, hurry. The Submariner will outlive you, and if worn with nominal activity you won't have to worry about winding it. I never had a Rolex run out of reserve on my wrist, but I always gave it a full wind every 30-40 days just because. |

My exact feelings... very easy to set and move on if its out of power. Go buy now and enjoy setting it from time to time.

You shouldn't need to worry as much about power reserve on a no date model. If it stops just wind it and set the time. No date, GMT etc to set. Max ease to power reserve would be a Daytona if that's a priority.
I would never wait for a Rolex model that hasn't been announced yet, because you just never know when it will happen. IMO you have 3 options today and all are pretty good 114060 116610 126600 |

Pretty much spoiled for choice with the three above so why not just go for one of these.......as someone has already said, who knows when a new Sub might come out?

I have both and some more other watches, but the SubC NoDate is really my favorite one. It is wearable on every occasion. T-shirt and jeans, dressy and i even wear it when i'm working out.
The submariner date i have is more when i'm in the mood for it and after a few days i switch back to my nodate and i always fall instantly in love again. Very weird. And the fun part mostly is that the time is still ticking when i exchange one of my other watches with the nodate. Just buy it, the most famous watch ever. You really don't regret your buy.

Thanks for all who has replied to this thread. I have set my decision to buy 114060 Rolex l Submariner. I have used movements of 48 hours from Rolex. It's just enough but the bigger the better. It is like having a bigger fuel ⛽ tank in your car.
Present models are already great but may be I thought they would have made it a tad better. My Sea Dweller 116600 also boasted about 48 hours power reserve which met my requirements for for rotation too.
