Sub vs Sub ND

I know this has been discussed many of times I'm sure but can't find the thread. I like both versions myself but I haven't seen many new Ceramic ones for sale preowned lately on here or am I missing them, Sub ND yes. One more desirable over the other or something? Appreciate the feedback!

Few thoughts:

1) Both are awesome, so it's merely a personal preference.

2) I feel like the ND gets more "love" on TRF because it sticks to the roots of the Sub and a dive watch in general by not having a date. Nevertheless, I believe the date version is more popular overall outside of TRF (general population, non-Rolex enthusiasts).

3) I had the date version and loved it, and I really appreciated having the date since it was my daily wearer. However, if I had another watch with a date as my daily wearer (another Sub, a GMT, etc.), then I would go for the no date because I love the clean lines and symmetry of the dial and the fact that it is more "vintage" as in true to the roots of the Sub and a dive watch. In fact, the next time I keep two Rolex watches in my daily collection, I'll more than likely have one with a date (Hulk, BLNR, etc.) and the no date Sub to compliment it (of course, until I finally get the call for the Daytona C in which case that one will rule them all).

I think everything you just said makes sense. My Daytona C is a keeper for sure!

I have just bought a Sub C Date 116610LN. I was on various lists for the non date Sub 114060 but when it came to it I could not give up the date feature. The 114060 looks a little more symmetrical and is slightly better looking as a result but for me, practicality won the day and it had to have a date. If you don't need the date the 114060 is a fine looking watch.

Not being a big fan of the cylops (my only cyclops are on my GMT's) and seeing as I have a 14060m I vote 114060

I prefer ND.. I think it's so popular that the grey market inventory turns over quickly. You'll find the right one!

That's because you've got the names wrong, you would want to search for the Sub and Sub Date
I too had to choose between the two, but went for the classic one. The cyclops and date were the deal breaker, for a first and only Rolex i had to get what i liked the most. Down the road, i might add a date version also, as i love sunburst dials.

My vote is no date for the reason previously mentioned:
It seems to me against the spirit of a diving watch.

Now for a GMT - the date & cyclops - Yes Please!

You're right that there doesn't seem to be many preowned Sub Dates for sale at the moment. However the search function on the classifieds here has never been great for me. Search the model # on watchrecon.com. That will be your best bet as it crawls a number of classified sites. There are a few preowned for sale on other sites.

The more I see the no date the more I start to like it. But I legitimately use my Sub Date for its actual purpose of knowing the date quite often so I don't think I could make the switch.

ND is classic but the date version is more popular and easier to sell when the time comes.

I went for ND. Besides heritage, the relatively small dial looks better without the cyclop imo.

Than again, if this is your only watch go for the date model.

Had a ND sold it ,desperately thought I wanted a SubC date bought one & never wore it . Sold it & bought a 16610LV & couldn't be happier .But if I had to choose between the Sub ND or Date It would be the SubC date every time .

They are the two most mispresented models on the forum. It's baffling considering they are the two most widely regarded models. lol.

The Submariner is pure and relaxed with a simple symmetrical dial. However to pick an only watch between the two then it's the Submariner Date for functionality.

The debate of sub v. Sub date is endless. When you make a decision, reach out to one of the trusted sellers. They will hook you up in no time.

No Date for me. It's just so clean and perfect though a date function is very useful.

If people want a date, and don't like the bubble, the Sea Dweller is calling out to them. The 40mm version is a great compromise.
