Went to buy a Sub Date....walked out with a Sub No Date

Went to pick up a Sub Date I was on a wait list for and turns out the dealer made a mistake....it was just a Sub (no date)

I didn't even notice the lack of cyclops/date when he handed it to me but for some reason it seemed better looking when he took it out of the untouched wrapping...I thought it was just because it was new/shiny....then he caught it.....it was the wrong watch and he said I'd have to wait longer for the Sub Date to come in.

At first I was pretty upset for a second considering I drove a bit to get there, but the more I thought about it the Sub looked even more beautiful to me without the cyclops.

For reference, I owned a Sub Date for 8 years and was buying another to replace it.

After sitting around for about 15 minutes thinking of what I was going to do, I decided on taking the Sub.

I love it. Its a much cleaner look IMO. I know everyone has a preference but I never really used the date function on my watch and it was a pain to always have to adjust it between AM/PM. Also saved myself $1,000.

Overall happy with my purchase and the mistake was meant to be

It’s great your happy. That’s what matters most. I would have made the same choice. The clean dial and no cyclops looks the best on the Sub I think. Congrats on your purchase, it’s a classic

The watch is so clean looking, IMHO I think it was a great snag. I love happy accidents like that. You wear it well.

The face is cleaner and you never have to deal with the 28, 29, 30, 31 date adjustments.

Congrats on that beauty, when it comes to a sub, there is no right/wrong answer. Both winners!

Thank you!

When I asked the dealer to give me a minute to think about it, I was leaning on taking the no date because it looked so nice but my other half was saying "I was waiting for the Sub Date."

Didn't expect to have to make such a tough decision

For some reason I wanted to validate myself so I Googled a thread on here and quickly read 10+ pages of people arguing back and forth which is their favorite Sub (date or no date)

It was maybe 60/40 (more preferring the no date) but I realized it was only my preference that mattered. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some negative stigma about the classic Sub (I never even gave thought to it before).

I love it and am even happier with how it looks on my wrist compared to the Date I previously owned. I'm a simple person and dig the clean look.

Currently own a Sub Date. Every time I see one without the date window I'm always stunned at how great it looks, especially the ceramics. Awesome purchase!

There’s something nice about just picking up a watch, setting the time without having to think, and off you go.

I have the 114060 and a Hulk. The 114060 was my first Sports Rolex because I like the unobstructed view. You made the right move!

Agreed . I'm terribly lazy about having to constantly futz with the time/date. One less thing to worry about. This one is staying on my wrist all the time.

I prefer the Submariner myself, Submariner being the official name for what you now so awesomely own.

The other one is the Submariner Date.

Congrats brother!

Wise decision!!!

The problem with my no date sub is that I just don't want to wear anything else. I'd rather wear it than watches that cost 2 to 5 times more.

I wear a ND as my daily. Love the watch. Sometimes when things do not work out how you wanted at first it turns out to be a blessing.
