Doesn’t bother me. They’re honest and upfront about it and you get to see them in person. I’m sure there are many people here who have never seen a DaytonaC or BLRO.

Sorry that you feel slighted but I actually like this idea. At least you can see the watches. If the display case was completely empty it's a lot worse.

I do hope they're letting people try them on, but I doubt it.

I can’t make out the cards. Do they say average wait times per model? At least it would be truthful to set expectations.

I agree! At least you can see and check out what you're on the list for before you wait years to get it. Better than empty displays with the VIP stash in the back safe. I'm okay with it. Cheers!

I get it that it sucks to be sitting right there and you can't have it, but at least you can see it in the flesh (I hope they let people at least try them on).
Wait, are you complaining that you've seen a ceramic Daytona at the AD?

I've never seen one. Probably been in 20-30 different ADs for a total of several hundred visits. I would drive to 8 in a single day if that meant finding a Daytona. lol.

I mentioned a similar experience my dad had a while back at an AD that displayed not-for-sale hard to get steel pieces. They stated they were only for people to try on when he tried to purchase one (they didn't display a not for sale sign so that to me is actually more frustrating as it briefly gets one's hopes up). To be honest between never seeing them and at least getting a chance to better decide if you actually like the watch, I would prefer trying one on...and then determining the best course of action to obtain a watch that I felt strongly about.

I bet they're for sale with a bundle or over retail cost if an offer was presented.
I wouldn't bother playing their games though.

Interesting tactic and will be exciting to see if being rolled out as an official Rolex strategy, or if just that AD. Would be lovely to try on a Daytona at an AD, although agree with others that could be a carrot being dangled to encourage purchases of DJ's and others to get on a list - shift the stock the AD struggles to shift and people pay up to get onto a list in the heat of the moment, especially with the current SS madness...

Look ADs can do whatever they want but it's really gotten silly at this point what some will do.

I bet they use "not for sale" as "well, if the price is right... oh and we do have a couple PM pieces and ladies DJs sitting in the case here for a long time".

Also, potentially they will let people try them on. I know I tried on a 116520 yesterday at used watch store and now there is no way I am getting a steel Daytona. This makes it better since if people can try the watches on before getting on WLs more people who order them are actual customers. I wouldn't start building a relationship with an AD just for a watch I don't particularly know if I will want when it arrives, but if I know I like the watch and I know I want some other watches/jewelry, I might use that to get the desirable watch that I know for a fact I want.

For example regarding Daytona, asymmetrical case of SS bothers me IRL, even though I didn't notice it in photos online, plus it looks small. I think I still might like PM Daytonas that are larger due to symmetrical case, but with me wanting a full bracelet (not OF) and a ceramic bezel, the Platona is the only option and it's quite a bit out of my budget for a very long time.

That's my latest special order. I told them they could put them on display until I fly in and pick them up next week.

I had to bundle the Air-King to get the other eight I wanted but it is what it is.

I also like this, its the best way to allow potential buyers to try one on at least and see if they are willing to place an order on the AD books.

Haha, best comment, you win this one!

I saw this the other day too. Not sure if the same branch (I went to the Raffles City branch). I even asked if these were actual pieces (and not just mock ups) and they let me try on whatever I wanted. I tried a Daytona, a BLRO and a CHNR. What’s good about it is that like others have said, you get to try and inspect the model first hand (although sure I could do the same at a gray).

What’s annoying though is that now you actually see - they do have all these hot references in stock. And to have them all at the same time and in one outlet - Daytona C black, white, BLRO, etc - that’s just nuts.

I wondered too why they did this but I assume foot traffic has come down already since some don’t even bother going in the store anymore so this way they can get people to spend time inside and hopefully you get interested in all the PM your heart desires

better than Australian ADs who hide those in the safe, and act like they want to kick you out of the shop, if you just ask to check one out!
