Submariner 36 Millimeter Case Availability

I've got a fairly small wrist, and a friend's 40 millimeter Submariner is a bit ungainly when I've tried it on.

I think I've seen discussions of Submariners having been available in the 1970s with 36 millimeter cases.

If that's true, might someone please share such model number(s) with me, along with the associated movement calibre(s) used in those models?

Thanks!

Did you try the 40mm CERAMIC or preceramic Submariner? Preceramic, aka 5-digits, are very well proportioned for small wrists. The ceramics wear fairly large.

I think I remember reading a comparison, where the measurements essentially showed that the 5 digit size is rounded up to 40, while the 6 digit size is rounded down to 40.

Mid-size Tudor Subs have quite a few options, too. Here's my salmon dial with steel bezel:

Due to thinner lug and crown gaurd, the 5 digit wear smaller than the 6, but they are same size as i know

The mid-size Tudor subs are neat watches and about half the price of a 5 digit sub. Something different too. And you can replace the movement for about the same price as a service on a Rolex movement.

I looked into them and most of the ones available at a reasonable price will need some restoration work.

Go 5 digit sub. You'll never ever regret it. No need to wear a 6 digit tank :)

If you tried on the 6 digit, you might want to try on 5 digit. I don't think 5 digit Sub would look big on most men.

If it was indeed 5 digit, your only option for a Sub is a 36mm Tudor Sub as others have stated.

There's always the Tudor BB58 which would be alternative to a no date sub
Or
Have you looked at the yacht master 37
Which is in real terms a Submariner with a platinum Besel
That would be an alternative date sub

Anyone can wear a 40mm pre ceramic Sub brother, they wear small. Try one on at your nearest grey dealer, not hard to find. Good luck!

090 is plastic crystal, tritium, Rolex branded crown/caseback, oyster style folded bracelet.
190 is saphire crystal Tudor or Rolex crown/caseback, tritium or luminova, white gold surrounds on some, folded oyster/jubilee style bracelet.
mine is a 75190 from 1999 and I love it!
light, comfortable and fits my wrist perfectly.
i wear it way more often than my Rolex or Omega watches.
something about that blue that I just have to grab it each time go to pick which one I'm going to put on.
