Really like that.
THink I might order a JV for my 98 ( dual crown also).
I find the thicker straps do not do either of these watches any justice. OEM are perfect for them.

Very nice. The 242 is one of the most understated Panerai made. Only 300 made and has a JLC movement. Still perplexes me on why this watch was not more poplular. But, is one of the best watches Panerai made.

I know what you mean Chad. All serious collectors of Panerai say the same thing, yet they don't own 'em. Even with only 300 of them made, they seem to change hands regularly. I see them frequently in the FS sections. I don't understand. I love the way they look and for people who own several Pam's this one stands out from the Pam crowd. The 184 is in the same boat (same watch but 42mm) and I think it is great also. Much better in an office work environment (IMHO) as it doesn't stand out as much.

*sigh* Do you think I want one???

Nice alarm. What does it sound like when it goes off? Always wondered.

The 242 .... some facts and personal thoughts :

I bought mine new in 2008 from an AD.It was only made in 2006 (I serial).Meaning it was waiting for me for close to two years at the AD.
They mustard brown deployant strap is one of the nicest OEM straps available.Like all OEM straps, the standard length is a bit short, for my liking. In future I will order a mustard brown in the longer 115/95 length.
The Jules Verne Nubuck Gold 26/26 125/95 looks simply magnificent on the 242.This is also the length of strap Panerai should have sold as their standard length.(Anyone thinking about ordering a JV Nubuck Gold for their PAM ~ Go ahead, you wont be disappointed.Lots of texture and character that suits the ss and black dialvery well.)
Only 300 were ever made.Although it was part of the Contemporary collection,it remains a very limited production watch.More limited in numbers, compared to most Special Editions(127/1950,217/1000,232/1938 etc.)
For a very limited production watch,it remains one of the true bargains in the BNIB/LNIB/used secondary market.
The two crowns, combined with the fact that its a 45mm,makes it very unique.
The internal rotating bezel for 24h function, also a bit of the extraordinary.
It also has a JLC movement, which is VERY accurate.
Amazing depth to the dial, with an beautifully domed/curved crystal and the perfect cyclops ~ small and very functional, but with minimal intrusion on the design.

A favourite in my collection and one that I love to wear !!

I am still waiting on a black alligator/white stitch 26/26 125/95 OEM strap. Now if Vendome can get their act together and actually land the strap, both I and the AD will be less annoyed with them !! The strap was ordered a long time ago !! Will post pics when it arrives

If I get some time, I will try a video with sound, but it sounds like a really large mosquito. It buzzes. On a full wind of the alarm spring, will go for about 15 seconds. The watch vibratest too. Loud enough to wake me up & heard across a room.
If you take your time setting it, it is deadly accurate too
