My first Panerai

Just received my first Panerai today, a PAM 531...and I think it's stunning.
This is my first high end watch. I was eyeing the Rolex 116660 D-Blue DSSD which is a stunning watch in it's own right, but ended up choosing the Panerai.
I love the 1950 case, the in house movement with GMT and the overall clean look!

What do you think?

Solid choice.

Did it come with a rubber strap? If not the OEM is a must for Panerais on vacation.

It did indeed come with the rubber strap.
I changed out the straps to see how difficult it would be, and was impressed at how easy it was. I'm now on the hunt for a brown calf skin strap. Any good quality resellers in USA or Canada?

My first high end watch was a PAM 359. Love it.

Welcome to the strap game it gets addicting. i would recommend ted su straps and deluca straps when you want to start playing around with different colors and stuff. They are pretty expensive but high quality and are known in the panerai community.

r3dheat is right on vacation stick to the rubber strap. You're going to love getting down and dirty and not have to worry about your watch and strap.

While I do think the OEM straps are the best, they're certainly pricey. Word on the street is that Hirsch makes them.

I have a British Racing Green Ostrich Leg strap from Combat Straps in Canada. He has some great exotic materials and the finishing is really nice. Additionally, his deploys are super reasonable and nearly identical to the OEM deploys. I have both, and the big difference is the near perfect finishing on the OEM deploy.

I have the 531 and recommend the OEM brown Assolutamente strap. It matches perfectly with the ecru lume and dial print. The OEM black and brown vintage straps look great with it, too.
