Well, I voted 249 as well. Not sure I can pull off the 47mm, but the dial is awesome, the plexiglass is vintage and sweet blue hands!!!

I will go for the 249. Cos the 232 looks like BLACK SEAL models but without the words "BLACK SEAL", but with a bigger case.

But for that money, I would honestly pass them and get the 190 instead with the Angelus 8 days movement!

No comparison, the 249 is in a class by itself concerning rads. The 232 and 190 are nice watches but lack that little something extra.

Both the 249 and 232 house the same movement PANERAI OPX which is the a decorated Unitas 6497 with 56 hours power reserve. Whereas the 190 is a JLC 8 days movement!

Sorry, my bad, the 190 houses a JLC 8 days movement not the Angelus.

190 has a JLC 8 day movement. The Angelus movement is in the controversial 203.

Earlier this week a 203 sold for $105k on auction in Hong Kong.Must be a sign of the bad economy worldwide, because thats quite low for a 203.Last one went for around Euro 120K and I saw one on another site for $140K.

I like the 232.

The 249 is unique and very nice in its own way.Personally,I dont like the mixing of Arabics and Romans/nameless dial and acrylic glass.

232 is elegant Radiomir,with a nice 47mm casing and a lovely balanced 3/6/9/12 dial.

I like the 232 better.

Secondary pricing have to be included, since the 232 goes for around $8k and the 249 for $13.5k and up.

In current economic conditions, pricing on these two may drop slightly.

It is not a bad price for $105k. Considering that the USD went up against most of the currencies of the world. For eg. today USD105k = about Euro77k, about a few months ago, USD105 was = about Euro65k. So just convert Euro12k gained to HKD!

Agreed. It was a great price for the 203,for now.Perhaps conditions forces pricing down further.I think it will.

The price a few years back for the 203 was around $18k-20k. That's the fattest cow(profit) in the current PANERAI world!

I would still choose the 249!!!!

Panerai is NOT about the movements! Their history is started by using other people's movements. First ever was Rolex. There is nothing wrong with the ETA movements they use and although they are ETA movements, they are TOP quality. I own a 6497 movement watch and I recently have looked at several PAM's with 6497 base movements. They are SOOOOO much smother than my swiss 6497 movements. The also work within COSC standards. They aren't certified, but if you talk to your AD, they will make necessary adjustments for you (at least mine will). That being said, without a second hand the checking if you watch is within -4+6 sec a day would be tough. Would have to look at it over a months time to tell if you were even a min off. Still could be tough!

Thanks! The Radiomir trinity would be the 190, 249 and 232, so I should try and add a 232 to the mix

249 for me! :)
Asides from what everybody has mentioned, 232 is heavier than 249 due to the solid back and sapphire crystal.

249 is a very nice watch indeed. The dial is unique, history behind it is just amazing.

Trurolexer: you know you want one

Thanks

I had a call this afternoon about a new shipment of Sea Dwellers (the old style 16600) and I have been allocated one, so I will be getting back into the Rolex fold soon (I sold my Rolexes a few years ago).
