New Breitling Premier Bentley Centenary Model released 5 March 2019

Happened upon this post by Breitling CEO Georges Kern. I'm a fan of brown watches so I am intrigued.

The wood dial is very intriguing and I'm looking forward to seeing some life shots to see how the dial looks in a more natural setting.

Same thread in which I asked if there is an update on the SO coming and Georges replied "soon".

This watch is a stunner on aesthetics alone. I love it!

I wonder what the reaction would have been if this watch had been released by Theodore Schneider?

Not exactly thrilled with the design but to each their own. I remember a few years back that Breitling fans were howling due to the rubber inlays on the bezel of the just released airborne. Everyone wanted to know how it would hold up etc, etc, etc. Now Breitling comes out with a wooden dial and there is very little backlash. I would be more concerned with a wooden dial then I would be with rubber inlays! I have not seen one post regarding how this "wooden dial" in manufactured and what the longevity of it is? Anyone know?

On their Instagram Breitling posted a video to promote this watch. There is a quick shot of someone grabbing a sheet of veneer off a huge stack, so I guess the dial on the watch is very thin veneer bonded to a metal disc/dial. Presumably the metal backing will provide the structural integrity, with the veneer being purely aesthetic.

Can someone explain the whole Bentley crossover idea?

How did they say... “Hey, Bentley and Breitling both start with ‘B’, lets cross-market!”

Also, does anyone know how long the cross-marketing deal will last for?

If I am not mistaken, breitling supplied the clock in the dash of the early models.
