VC reboots this lineup every 5 years, meh. Good news is it can be had at a fraction of the other two.

It is true the Overseas had made considerable changes in each generation. I really didn't like the previous 2, but I think the current one they finally nailed it as a true sport watch with beautiful internal.

Exactly what I was thinking!
RO and Nautilus designs IMO are also aesthetically far superior.

Good point. Not unlike the IWC Ingenieur or GP Laureato in that respect. At the moment I'm not a fan of the Inge but love the Laureato, though that was the opposite for the previous generations of each.

OS, in many ways, feels like a "JLC+"

I have always liked Overseas in person but the out of house movement was a big turn off. I saw the limited blue and red PC 20 pieces at a boutique and it was only 56k, think it had a JLC movement.

Maintenance wise are all 3 (say simple 3 hander) similar in terms of cycle and price?

I've tried on the newer Overseas a few time. For me, I haven't been able to convince myself to buy one. The opposite was true when I tried on the royal oaks; I definitely wanted one immediately.

I want a 5711 but my AD told me 6 years. So I want something else that's a sports watch and I refuse to buy an AP. AP has abdicated their glorious history by basically becoming a one-watch brand. So I've been looking at the Overseas and I really like it and may get one.

On size and wrist presence it just seems like the offshore customer is the appropriate market for it. Its not a negative on either brand, i just think the comparisons are sometimes not comparing the most similar watches to each other.
What am I missing?

VC overseas chrono is chuncky compared to the ROC? Surely you jest.

I’ve not checked the specs. But I’d say they are nearly equal. The ROC is a very substantial piece. To me, just by feel, the VC chrono is much more proprtional and balanced.

Both Nautilus and RO have significant patterns on the dial that make them somewhat fuller . Vacheron lacks that bit of detail and the hr only version looks a little vacant, a little lacking.

With that said, I found the Overseas dual time to be very pretty and visually pleasing. Great watch, good straps, overall an attractive complete package imo especially if you are fed up with having to wait ridiculous amount of time to buy either RO or Nautilus from ADs

Would everyone agree that the Overseas is the best alternative to waiting for a Nautilus or Royal Oak?

I do think the datejust is the best alternative to the date-only Nautilus and RO.

I would emphatically disagree. There are a few VC pieces I really like. None of them are an Overseas.

GB-man pretty much nailed it in post #2.

The overseas lacks the elegant look and wearability compared to the other two. I tried on the blue dial chrono and it feels bulky and way too thick

The royal oak is the original. AP have bastardized it much like omega has the speedy, but thankfully they still make some compelling renditions, just like omega.

The Patek is the odd ball. A derivative design completely devoid of modern upgrades but fortunate to be part of the second strongest brand in watches. Hot as they come right now and enjoying it’s long awaited limelight.

IDK which is the worst but I like Nautius the most ,
I was in love with the 15202 but it come and go however the Nautilus still a solid lover .

GB-man said it all post #2.

I have always liked the VC 222 but since then, nothing... The Overseas does just the opposite of attracting me and in my view VC did a poor job in managing their 222 heritage.

Presumably you’re referring to the current 3rd Gen design with in-house movement?
On that basis, the word ‘best’ (subjective description more often than not) would need to be defined — otherwise, you could advocate the Girard-Perregaux Laureatos as being an equal alternative.
