Anyone here wears their smart watch more than their mechanical watches?

Any watch enthusiasts here who have decent mechanical watches but end up wearing their apple watch / smart watch more?

Asking for a friend

True. I actually have most of the connectivity features (texting etc) switched off. I use it mostly for fitness tracking

Just out of curiosity, what fitness data do you track, and do you find it genuinely helps you in a practical way (as opposed to an academic, data-geek sort of way)?

Nope. Smart watch is for running only. Mechanical watch for everything else.

I track my steps, calories, heart rate, running, etc. I do high intensity training so it really is rewarding to see yourself improve and feel that you’re taking good care of your health. To me at least

Wearing the AW4 daily. Can’t say the Rolex family gets the same wristtime now.

Maybe Rolex should have rolled out a smartwatch of their own this year.

I have a GARMIN Tactix Bravo that I wear for training at the gym or if I decide to really do some exploring off the beaten path in the mountains. Outside of that, it’s always a mechanical strapped to my wrist.

Yup, my Garmin Fenix is getting 100% wrist time these days. I never thought I’d be a smart watch guy, but here we are...

Don’t own one and have no interest.

I’ll never say never, but I think it’ll have to be government mandated for me to consider it

Lol, exactly

Unless you are a top-level athlete, where small differences can be material, that type of data-tracking is useless. Any such tracking can be done perfectly adequately at a macro level.

I mean, it's not like I need some device to tell me week to week how my lifts are faring. It's usually pretty obvious.

And if you DO want to track, a pen and pad is really all you need (or notes on your smartphone). Tracking things like steps, calories, etc is beyond worthless.

This is a good example of technology solving a problem that it created in the first place.

I wear both.

My "smart watch" isn't a watch. It's an extension of my cell phone.

Don't do it. It's a trap In hindsight I wish I never got one because now that I got used to my AW, my mechanical watches see much less wrist time and I can't force myself out of it

I often wear an AW4 on the right wrist, and "real" watch on the left. :-) Sometimes the AW4 stays home.

I've found that they fill different roles for me. The AW is great for travel and for the weekends when I'm running around and can leave my wallet and phone at home. As another poster said, it really is an extension of my iPhone. I wear my mechanicals to the office, out to dinner, or any other time when I have my phone with me.

I think that's a very nice balance

i've considered that but feels awkward somehow did you initially feel weird doing it?

Negative. Had one briefly, wasn't a fan. The charging really killed me; I do enough of that already, thanks.
