That Daytona is a special watch, but you will get much more utility from the watches you’d end up giving up. Also, who is to say prices for that Daytona will remain at current levels. This isn’t a decision I’d make on market value alone. That said, I’d pass...

Add a 116500 white dial to your current line-up and that will scratch the itch.

Well, if it’s a 6263 with a Newman dial, then yeah, I’d do it. I think they go for several hundred thousand US dollars.

Of course this is just $$ to $$ speaking (If we're talking about a nice full set 6263, you're still looking at the 70k-80k range for a full nice set)....you're trading away an awful lot watchwise for a manual wind Daytona.

This. You are trading away too many great wearing for one piece. For me, I like variety. Unless you have a stable full beyond the ones you mentioned, you could find yourself wanting.

I recall reading 2 SS for one PM, and I was immediately left feeling lacking and wanted more than one Rolex. So, that did not last, for me. I am fortunate to be able to have a handful to pick from. I like that.

I would not make that trade regardless of trade value. You are trading too many great pieces.

I wouldn't. IMO, that's giving up too many great pieces for one, even a 6263.

Would you actually wear the Daytona if you did the deal?

That’s an awful lot of asset for one grail piece that may have limitations for wear?
WR and emotional attachment if damaged comes to mind as a concern.
At the very least keep your favorite modern Rolex as a daily/ beater.

Ps and remember it’s a wind up.

This. I have no problem trading whatever it is if the money works out. But have you thought about if you'd actually be comfortable wearing a 100k vintage watch?

And if it's just gonna be a safe queen, then no.

Yes, I would consider that trade.

The trades can be replaced but the Daytona would not be so easy

Without seeing the Daytona who knows?

No I would not do that trade, too many great pieces for a Daytona. You may later regret that trade, negotiate harder for a better deal.

No, that 6263 value is going to take a beating soon. You could get rid of less watches in the future and get a 6263.

Trade in 5 great watches for a beat up old flimsy watch that feels like a cheap watch by today's standards?

Yeah, not a chance.
