I am right there with you in central PA. We just had snow again this morning. I just did a extensive top side concours detail on my C4S this past week waiting on the roads to get cleaned off. We have the largest PCA Swap Meet coming up at the end of the month in Hershey.

Very nice (watch and cars both).

Question - as a car enthusiast I've been doing some Porsche (911 991) research in anticipation of getting one at some point. What is the best exterior color?

The conservative part of me says go silver, black, or dark blue.

But then again, if you're going to get a Porsche why not a screaming loud color like yellow, guard's red, or the Miami blue?

This is like a watch question that matches your personality. You have to know what your style is to answer it. The gray and silver colors tend to be a overwhelming favorite as it accentuates the curves of the 911 and gives a sophisticated look. Its also the color Porsche has traditionally chooses over the last 4 decades to unveil a new model.
Guards red and yellow use to be the standard color choice for a speed machine but have diminished in popularity. White is another popular color. Black is a sexy color but hard to keep looking pristine. Certain colors look better on a coupe than on a cab. I think the miami blue is a great cab color as the black top brakes it up. Yellow is similar. Then you could go with a Targa that adds a similar roof break up to the color. Do you like your women in a tight black cocktail dress or hot pink bikini??

Yeah, I test drove a white 2016 C4S coupe and the white really looked good.

I gotta say the 991 seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in (and I'm 6'4").

And that's after owning a Volvo which arguably has some of the most comfortable seats in the car business.

Yup, German cars are for tall people. I learned this along time ago when I briefly sold my 911 for a Ferrari. I am 6'3" and the 911 is the only car I fit into with head and shoulder room. I have taken several long trips in various 911's over the years and they are a blast, cheap to own and very reliable. The newer 911(water-cooled) are worlds more comfortable and a bit roomier than their air-cooled grand parents.

Yes, one reason I went to the dealer to actually sit in one is because Porsche doesn't publish the front leg room dimension in its spec. I was amazed at the room.

Another thing caught my attention (at least in the 991.1 I drove, don't have experience with older) - the seat adjustment is "articulating" (and that's the term the salesman used), so that they exactly adjust in the direction you're pressing the adjustment lever. I can achieve much more comfort than in my (current) BMW 4 series coupe. Those optional 18-way are worth it as an option.

Porsche has always done this with their seat adjustments. You will find the seat design themself hasnt changed much at all over the last 40 years. 911 seats all feel the same.

A little Rolex/911 seat content.

Different market here in the UK for 911's. When I look at USA based Porsche forums, all you guys have many cool colours. I remember looking through a "show your 996TT" thread and I got to about page 17 before I saw a dark blue one. You got all sorts of colours and lots of them, here if you want a 996x they are all silver, black, dark blue and grey. So those are the safe colours, However, with "colours" so rare buyers will pay a premium for a good colour (I will happily extra for speed yellow for example).
Therefore I would say buy a fancy colour (if you can find one).. may not apply in the LHD market though.

[QUOTE=OmegaJJH;8471818]Is that some Williams F1 Martini livery in your garage?

Same colours but it is the original Martini Racing Porsche. My wife hand painted all the Porsche art. This photo shows it a bit better.

I have an F-Type R but I still want a 911. I chose the F-type because of the styling, sound and rarity. I see 911s all of the time. I’ll probably buy a 911 in a few years.

Thanks. It was my father's 911T, purchased new in 1971. He gave it to me about 15 years ago.

That’s amazing I love the long hood 911s, when I was a teenager, I needed a car and my boss lent me a 911T for the summer, it was a rust bucket but I loved it. Nostalgia for that summer led me to buy my 1984 more than 20 years later. I spent just a little more for the 911 than I did for the Sea Dweller!

Now she’s ready to get cleaned up and tuned for the summer driving season. All I need now is a 1984 GMT II to go with it!
