Omega and Tudor swap for a Rolex Explorer?

Last week I finally acquired my Rolex GMT Master 2 LN. It's basically my grail. The watch is special, versatile and a keeper. I also have the following dive watches:

The Seiko SBDX017 Marinemaster, a 2009 Omega Planet Ocean 2500 and a Tudor Black Bay Blue ETA (2018, new old stock).

The Seiko stays. I absolutely adore this watch. For mine, it is the quintessential Seiko diver. The best one they make.

Should I sell the Omega PO and Tudor Black Bay for an Explorer and have a trio comprising of the Rolex GMT LN, Explorer and Marinemaster or leave the core 4 and not buy the Explorer?

What would you do?

I think you will end up regretting selling the PO, that reference is just a great watch would sell the Tudor in a heartbeat. Guess if you "only" want 3 the PO has to go but I think you will miss it

Thanks for your thoughts.
Bought the PO for my 40th and the LN came just after my 50th. It has been an exceptional watch. I am torn, to be honest.

That PO is a great watch, I wouldn't be trading it.

Yeah i wouldnt sell the mm300,its such an underrated watch

The po is probably the least interesting in your collection, followed by the eta tudor so i would vote yes

Great gmt, diver and a everyday watch. nice succinct and diverse trio, what more can u ask for

Omega and Tudor swap for a Rolex Explorer?

Nice collection. I suppose the question is, what do you like about the Explorer that’s enough for you to sell the PO and BB?

I suppose the Explorer represents a smaller watch, and dateless at that. It’d be a smaller, dressy watch that sits lower than the PO and likely BB to complement your others.

If that’s appealing then why not?

Good luck! All great watches in any case.

If you value variety then I would make the trade. All of the watches in your collection are true blue dive watches. The explorer is more all purpose and would round out your remaining trio very nicely.

I'd sell the Tudor and save the balance for the Explorer. You'll lose big on sales of the PO and MM both of which are very nice watches. Patience.

I like what you have but can see how the Exp would fit in perfectly.
Maybe sell the Tudor, keep the PO and save for the Exp?

I like the aesthetics of the Explorer. My second favourite Rolex after the GMT’s.

I couldn’t really justify adding a 5th piece. I also have plenty of beaters that I haven’t mentioned. I could possibly sell all of them (I have 5), a Seiko dress watch and the Tudor Black Bay and obtain substantial equity plus $ for a preowned Explorer mark 2.

I’m surprised that many here rate the Omega PO more than the Tudor Black Bay.

No you have a versatile collection as is. If it were a 1016 explorer that would be a different story.

I would do it. I loved my PO but the 2500 movement proved to be unreliable and had to be serviced twice in the same year. Beautifully watch tho.

I would keep what you have. I like the diversity of your collection and it provides some options. The Black Bay Blue is a sleeper and a great watch. I own one and it does not get a lot of wrist time but when it does I always think I should wear it more. Start a little fund and save some money and wait for the market to adjust a little downward and add the Explorer to your already strong collection.

I had that issue in 2012. Been fine ever since.

I had both the that exact PO and the Explorer at one point and ended up selling the PO as it hardly got any wrist time vs the Explorer.

If you can afford to just add the Explorer and then decide if you wanna sell the PO later then I would do that.

PO is a cracking watch but the Explorer is just perfect.

I sold that PO reference to fund a sub. Since sold the sub, but miss the PO (I was on C24 this week looking at them again). Keep the PO.

I think you have a good stable right now. Stick with what you have for a little longer in my opinion. Your thoughts may change from trade to add. Plus I'm just not a huge fan of that Rolex. I think you may tire of it quickly.

PO2500 is aesthetically superior to a Rolex diver which is why I chose the Rolex GMT as my first Rolex.

I'm going against the grain... dump the Omega! Nothing that special as a watch TBH, the only thing going for it is the connection to your 40th (I get that, I got a watch for mine, and I wont part with it!!)

Keep the Tudor, its the last of the 'true' tudors using the ETA movement, these are also creeping up in value as people want these more and more!

But... always go with your heart...

I read somewhere that if it was about the only Rolex model as ultimate watch after getting rid of all / any collection ... it would be just Rolex Explorer ... got myself recent edition with lume digits ... it is so simple but so universal (thickness mainly) watch as dress or casual ... having it all “except “ the date ... found myself wearing it too much over last couple of months ... proved it ... it is ultimate wach ... along my rich collection where Hulk, GMT 16710, DJ TT champagne dial on jubilee, 114060 it has won regular circulation ... get it regardless what you want to sell ... plus read a bit of the story behind Explorer what made me even more decided to get it

I’m a fan of your current lineup, especially the PO and the BB - I would move the MM and keep 1 or 2 beaters and move the rest, put that towards the explorer

Well you have a lot of rotating bezels. You could stand to lose one or two in order to add some diversity and a watch that is easier to dress up. The Explorer is a fantastic watch.

I would definitely sell the Seiko and Tudor long before selling the Omega Planet Ocean.

Speaking from experience, you will miss the PO. It’s such a great tool watch.
