I can understand why some people wouldn't like this but this wouldn't bother me if it were my watch as long as the watch came on a bracelet and was fully wrapped. If the watch was on a strap, I don't want people strapping it on and stretching the leather or fabric. If they want to touch it and hold it in their hand, have at it though.

This wouldn’t bother me at all. Someone touched it at the factory. Sales staff at the AD touched it. It’s not like they’re giving it to a 16 year old kid to take to prom.

What I'm more amazed is how they don't even know if I went with a friend who was collecting his, yet were capable of making quite assumptions. But hey, this is an Internet forum after all.

I only asked a simple question in post 27.

Please feel free to explain what was happening and thus get rid of any assumptions you feel are being made.

They called me when the first one at their location came in. But it was strictly "please understand that we will not allow you to handle the watch. We hope you understand as I'm sure you wouldn't want other people trying on your watch".

This makes perfect sense to me.

It’s good to show potential customers the product, but it’s also important to respect the fact that’s it not theirs to handle!

I would also be surprised if these watches hang around at the dealers long enough for many people to see them.

The Melbourne OB told me they will be keeping one "out back" for genuine collectors to see and feel. there is apparently already a 2-year wait list.

I handled a 321 EW at an OB recently - not mine, but SA was nice enough to bring it out from the back for me to have a look.

As it was already spoken for, I looked and felt it but didn't try it on my wrist out of courtesy.

I thought it was a great gesture as not many of these watches come through on a regular basis, and not everyone is comfortable with buying watches sight-unseen.

If tables were turned and it was my watch being shown to someone else, I'd be ok with it as well as long as it was still fully stickered and they didn't drop or ding it.

I got in early (way before release date) and I'll be surprised to see it in 2021. I've been told output at Omega is not running full steam due to Covid. Plus, they have a track record for everything being delayed. So while it is nice to see some here and there online, I think it's going to be a while.

Extract from above article

This time Omega chose not to make its “Silver Snoopy Award” watch a limited edition. Theoretically if you had £8,400 to spend you could walk into an Omega boutique – once they've reopened – and buy one. Except the waiting list is already “four or five years says Aeschlimann. “It is one of the watches people have been most excited about,” he says. “In all my time at Omega.

That quote was from Omega’s President & CEO Raynald Aeschlimann

I think we can put to bed Omega's (and speculators) 'everyone who wants one will get one' approach as I highly doubt it will even be produced after 4-5 years

Thanks for sharing.
This is exactly what we have been saying since October. The waiting list goes to over 4 years and it has been clear since the week of the launch that this was actually happening.
Omega didn't say when they will stop the production, and probably will not reveal that.
To be honest It's true that anybody with a real interest in the watch had his fair shot on hopping on the official list.
Now it might be more challenging get on because the demand is sky high.
Good for Omega, for the brand in general and for the customers that will get this reference.

Many people said that we would have had these watches all over the OBs and ADs, retailing at discount, so easy to find, that you could buy 2 if you want... and they are keeping pushing this narrative, no matter all the evidences.
Who knows why!?

They're still living in the pre 2016 watch world. The Rolex shortage lifted all boats and Omega prices have been slowly increasing. They're still living in the world of "never pay MSRP for an Omega". Almost every Speedmaster LE released recently is selling at close to MSRP or higher except for the Apollo 17 40th.

Just like when the new Kermit was released back in September the first one for sale was going for $33k. Now they've come down to $18k.

You wont know the true secondary market value till the summer when they get into many hands around the world.

Right now its just a hope and prayer to see if anyone bites on the crazy price. If not, they take it down and relist it for real market value down the road.
