check out this guy! (and his watch!)

Some of you might know of a guitarist by the name of Yngwie Malmsteen - Amazing guitarist that was popular in the 80's and still is today.

Another thing about him that will interest members of this forum in particular is that he's got quite a Rolex collection, (and a Ferrari one too...not to mention his guitars...)

Anyway, here's a video of him doing an acoustic guitar solo...check out the watch, looks to me like a white gold blue face submariner...Strange thing is this video was posted more then a year before the submariner came out in white gold... Post your thoughts!

The blue seems more like the blue on the old TT blue sub to me, but the bracelet seems to be SS. Maybe it's just a lookalike or a Tudor or even a bad fake?

I'm pretty sure it's a yellow gold Submariner. The lighting is a little weird there, but it definitely looks like the YG Sub with the older blue dial.

sorry ladies...

but it is a YELO gold Sub !
Lighting 'll do this and cause it to appear a washed out yelo more near the color of the ambient lighting on the stage which wasnt set very well for video.
Thanks,
Randy

I got to see him coming out of the side of the Fox theatre in Atlanta Ga. back in the mid 80's,---Have a good picture somewhere up close and if I remember right his watch is clearly visible. If I can find it I will post it up. Jon

Yngwie does not wear fake Rolex's...he is a millionaie 10 times over. I have seen vid, pics and interviews with him wearing a President, the gold sub, YM and a few more.

I have been a fan since in 83 when came here from Sweden. He lives in Florida.

He is right handed but wears the Rolex on the right hand, says it gets in the way of his fretting hand on the left wrist....FYI

My thoughts, too - has to be genuine. Yngwie was a household name in the 1980s, at least at our house! My husband told me there is no better guitar player out there.

Your husband is right!! Well, maybe Avril Lavigne....

Pure speed wise, there are faster-Chris Impelliteri comes to mind, but Yngwie is the total package

It's a yellow gold, blue dial Sub for sure. Incidentally, Yngwie Malmsteen was born Lars Yngve Lannerback; Malmsteen is his mother's maiden name. Although his technique is astonishing, his brand of neo-classical rock is not for everyone - I for one, have grown tired of it and have stopped buying his albums.

Hi guys, Im new here..

Looks yellow gold to me..

Yngwie is a fan of Rolex, he always mentioned it in his interviews about being purist..

I remembered met him abt 17 years ago during an autograph session, saw he wore a gold Datejust..

one of the great guitarist of all time but i prefer Ritchie Blackmore..;)

I say it's YG. But in that lighting it's really hard to tell. However, if you look at some of the other vids of him on youtube (where he's in regular lighting), he's definitely wearing some other YG Rolexes (hard to tell which ones from the low res).

Funny, the only way I heard about him was from a watch forum! Nice watch, but the music did not do to much for me.

One word...arpeggio. He is an arpeggio king, but it fits nicely with his style. If only he could've cleaned up his act a bit like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. They cut their hair, dressed more into the decade, but still play their old songs. He needs to let go and play with symphony orchestras and not aspire to be the 80's glam rock god that he used to be.

I saw Yngwie at a small venue here in November. I do not recall him wearing any watch while he was playing, then again I do not recall much of that evening at all. Just reliving my glory days of the 80's

Anyone got any pics or info of his full collection? I’m guessing he has literally hundreds of PM Rolex spanning all decades

I think he’s heavily influenced by Mr Blackmore, musically anyway.
