Sadly, Melanie has died. Another baby boomer artist from my generation...
We are unfortunately witnessing some of the greatest artists/music from an incredible era of music, coming to the end of their lives.

I was sad to see this one too. Always liked her when she was making appearances in the 1970's. RIP.

Sad for sure, back during a time when talent was needed.

I didn’t know of her till now. Maybe I’d recognize her music if I heard a song.

It is a sad one for sure.. Thanks for sharing some links, I’m sure those who didn’t know her before will take some time to listen to her here, she was an amazing talent.

For people who don't "get " it.
Monterey Pop Festival was 1967. Woodstock was August 1969. The Viet Nam war was raging. Everyone knew someone who's family members were coming home in body bags. The Beat(niks) coffee house singer songwriters (folk singers) were emerging with the songs and the anthems of the Hippies, and the peace and love era was in full swing. The Summer of Love in San Francisco was 1967. Kent State was in 1970. The country was torn apart by those for and those against the war. And some of the greatest music was being performed by some of the best musicians in any era. And birth control (the Pill) was readily available.

For each generation there are difficult losses and she wrote one song that resonated for me, “Look what they’ve done to my song, ma”
There are so many more for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Lifelong fan of Melanie. Still play her 'Best of' regularly. Love "Candles".

I hadn’t heard. I’m a big fan. My late husband, also a huge fan, wrote a song for her, called “Song Goddess”, and was able to present it to her. She told him years later, that she kept it, and it was in her safe.
