Icon5 How much discount should I ask for a white Explorer II

Hello, I’m looking to purchase a white Explorer II from an AD for the following reasons:

1.) I’m hoping that by being a repeat customer, that will help me move up the waiting list for the Daytona C.
2.) For some reason, after buying a 116610LN (1st one that I bought) only 2 weeks ago, I feel the need... er, the want to get a sibling for it, and I think that I should probably get one with a white dial since the SubC already has a black one. (Hopefully this doesn’t turn into an addiction or I might need to close my 401K really early haha :O)
3.) I like the way it looks, it’s simple and contemporary/modern (especially w/ a rubber bracelet).

Based on the stuff that I’ve read from here, the Exp II isn’t really that popular so I’m wondering if the AD will give me a discount for that reason and maybe for being a repeat customer. I paid MSRP+tax for my SubC btw. Thanks in advance! :)

On the contrary. I've seen the price on the gray market go UP, so I'm not sure a discount will be had.

I’m in the uk and brought an Explorer ii black dial a couple of weeks ago no cash discount and believe me I tried hard at 3 different dealers in the end I part exchanged my Tag Heuer Aquaracer and was given over the odds on that piece so was very happy in the end 😜

The professional ss line is pretty thin on the ground nowadays. Good luck with any discount, though it never hurts to ask.

It is always good to ask for a discount, most ADs do not like to give discounts on the SS Professional models, some may make the remark “we can give you a discount on a non-professional model or if you purchase a PM” If all fails at least try and get some accessories from the AD.

Very true. Probably the only Rolex that can be purchased cheaper non AD route.

It seems as though discounts are coming to an end on the popular professional models. As mentioned, it never hurts to ask though.

Good luck

Yes but pretty much every AD I know has these sitting in cases as not the strongest sellers. One should be able to easily get a discount on an Exp II in my opinion.

Of all the sports models in the midst of this shortage the Explorer II can still be had at a discount. Ultimately it depends on your relationship with your AD as not all are created equal.

I believe that 5-10% can be had from an AD on the Explorer II. Discuss with the AD that you will buy the watch and why not from them? Several of the Trusted Sellers have the watch and if the AD route does not work out see what they can do for you. Also, I am a huge fan of the Polar Explorer II. I really enjoy mine.

I love the Explorer ii I like my Black dial more than the sub I had, it fits me better and I love the GMT function.
I love it that much I think I’m going to get the Polar next 🤪

Last summer, I was offered 20% off before I even started negotiating, at an AD from which I’ve never purchased. I would bet 30% was on the table. Of course, with this shortage, the story might be different now.

Good luck with any discount in the Bay area....... Try to work out a discount on your sales tax.

You can still get nice discounts on Exp 2’s. Especially, if you’re paying cash.

Rolex will probably be replacing these with 3287 variants soon

This is where I think the most realistic range would be. Surprisingly with all the shortages of SS models, my AD constantly has the white and black models in stock. I’ve been offered 15% off on them. Never pulled the trigger though.

In US you can probably get 5% from smaller ADs, in UK no chance.

Ask for 20%, always good to ask for more so the AD has some wiggle room.
Ask for a cash discount, I think AMEX takes 5%. Split the difference with the AD if above does not work.

If nothing else, you can fly to Oregon and save the CA sales tax. When I buy in California, they will ship the watch to me in Portland and not charge the tax.
