Alaska Cruise excursions.

Taking the family on a cruise to Alaska this summer. We are planning the shore excursions and I would love some feedback. 2 adults 2 teenagers.

well, I would choose Holland America over Princess for one.

While the cruise portion of the trip (Alaska to Vancouver) was nice, we much preferred the time spent in interior Alaska (Arctic circle to Anchorage)

being a railroad guy I did enjoy the White Pass & Yukon out of Skagway.

most of the folks I talked to that have done the alaska cruise say other than the glaciers evrything you want to see and do is on land we also are planning a trip but a land based trip with a day excursion to the glaciers. Railroad and car. Danali , salmon fishing etc...

The ship is making stops in Ketchikan, Juneau and Tracy Arm. A helicipter tour is on our list.

well, at least you'll get a 'taste', albeit the touristy one. If you enjoy it then hopefully you'll get back and spend time in the interior.

A helicopter tour to the top of a glacier is a must do, just and awesome trip you don't want to miss.

Absolutely. I spent 2 summers playing baseball in the Alaska League 25 yrs ago. Its quite a place. Our team was based out of Fairbanks.

Looks like you are on the Disney Wonder, we were on the same cruise last June.

Small boat tour at Tracy Arm...if your ship actually does Tracy Arm. Our ship did Endicott Arm instead due to ice in Tracy Arm. Don’t be disappointed if your cruise ends up doing Endicott, many of the crew, and the cruise naturalist said Endicott is nicer.

Whale watching in Juneau. We saw several, to include a full breach. The excursion took us to Mendenhall Glacier before boarding the whale watching boat.

Other in our group did the Deadliest Catch excursion in Ketchikan, my son and I did a zip line adventure (saw lots of eagles), but after hearing about the Deadliest Catch excursion, I regret not doing that one.

We did Disney Alaska a few years back with the kids a bit younger than yours.

Dog mushing and gold panning was well received.
