"Trusted" Overhaul For A 5056
All-
Over on the Rolex boards most agree that Rik and Vanessa are terrific, expert maintenance & repair alternatives to the Rolex Service Center. How about for Pateks? Are there master watchmakers that can be relied upon outside of the Patek Service Centers. I am trying to avoid using Stern's if at all possible for the overhaul of my 5056 (annual calendar w/ moonphase). Thanks |

"Trusted" Overhaul For A 5056
I'd like to know this too. What's the advantage of sending it to Patek for a service vs an expert watchmaker with great reputation?

An AC is more complicated than a simple 3-hand watch. So there are less number of trained watchmakers who can service ACs, even at HSWA and other authorized service centers. Not sure how many independent watchmakers can get Patek parts.

Other than the parts availability, my watchmaker told me the tolerances on Pateks are ridiculously tight so he sends them to PP for repairs. Not a favorable risk/reward equation for him. That's him being honest, and I'm sure there's other certified watchmakers that might reliably take that work. I'd have to know they were very experienced with PPs.

Always trust you watch to the man who wears the cross (calatrava)!
