I am considering this fine piece, what do you guys think.

Ok so, my watch hobbt/collection has been taken down to 2.
Deepsea + Explorer 2
I do want to have something that is unrecognizable to most people.
Most Rolex enthusiasts don't even pick out AP models.
A little help would be appreciated from you guys.
Thanks.

Just picked up my first AP and it is totally in a different league to Rolex, quality finishing etc, I can’t comment on the offshore line but if the quality is consistent among all lines then AP is natural upgrade in your journey of watch collecting!

Nice, but I would say that’s “unrecognizable.”

Thank you for your input, that is kind of the way I see it.

APs are pretty recognizable to watch people, but a solid choice regardless!

Not this one IMO. Most people wouldn't be able to recognize any specific watch but this AP won't go unnoticed. I'd consider a Grand Seiko in that case but that's just me.

APs are highly recognizable. Try Patek.

Highly recognizable to fine watch people is fine by me.
99 percent of people are not watch people so AP are less recognizable than Rolex.

You really can’t go wrong with an AP Diver & they hold value too, last year my friend sold a black dial Diver after 5 years of really abusing it and following a factory case/bezel refresh + new rubber strap he made 3k over what he paid 5 years ago.

Diver is a classic. Just make sure you buy from a reputable seller or brand new from the boutique. 100% peace of mind with Davidsw.

Definitely not something unrecognizable to the mass but a good start step up from Rolex.

What can I say - it’s an amazing go anywhere, do anything watch with a true high end movement.

Wear mine daily for virtually everything.

It will be recognised by watch fans (but most pieces will be) otherwise sits quite demurely on the wrist thanks to the rubber strap.

A few photos from the last 18 months as this is the specific model you’re interested in.

There is also a metal bracelet available for it which looks sublime if that’s your preference vs. rubber too.

Haha - I guess I come at it from a comparison perspective of an all metal or polished bracelet / recognisability outside the WiS world as opposed to overall size.

Had the diver, didn't like it. The fit just wasn't for me. Moved over to the AP Chrono which I love.
