Traveling to Italy

Hi everyone,

I'm travelling to Italy (primarily in the North) for 10 days on vacation and I'm planning on bringing 1 of my watches with me. There will be a lot of walking and potentially some swimming.

What would you guys recommend? I practice a lot of awareness of my surroundings when I travel but I'd obviously like to avoid getting it stolen off my wrist (which is why I don't think the DD40 is a good idea) or any unnecessary conflict. I also don't have watch insurance. However, I wore the DJ36 to Italy around 4 years ago with no issues so I don't see it being very problematic.

I'm considering putting the DJ41 on a white everest strap. Let me know what you guys think!

I've been a few times to Milan, Rome and Venice, but with insurance and an awareness of my surroundings and no problems. However, like anywhere there are those on the look out to steel your watch and if your lucks out and only insurance will bail you out.

I would take the DJ41. I think the DD and RO are too "shiny" and potentially may attract attention.

DJ41.

As a tourist I prefer the Apple Watch so I have a lot of information on my wrist or use Siri or pay without needing to take my phone out all the time.

I worked in and have also spent time touring Italy in my van, from Austria all the way down to Trani before a ferry to Albania, its safe. As anywhere, be aware of your surroundings, you'll be fine. Its a smashing country.

DJ41 as it's a little more under the radar than the DD or AP.

Id go with the SS DJ. As others said its alittle more under the radar. I feel the Two tone and AP def grab more attention.

I've been to Italy several times wearing the Sub and others, and never had a problem. Do be extra careful if going to Naples or Palermo. Also, be aware that pick-pocketing is a high art form in Italy.

Above all, enjoy!

Most of the Italy is safe, Naples not so much. As you said you will mostly be touring the north, DJ should be fine though preferably SS. I would op to wear Casio and bring along DJ in a casebudi for later outing in nice areas.

You need a Seiko SKX for that collection!

I'd wear the DJ41 out of your options..... out of curiosity why do you not have insurance on that collection? Adding it to your homeowners policy costs so little ($124 a year for me).

Wear any of them, Milano is one of the safest cities I've ever been to. It's also littered with watch stores everywhere, no wonder since it's right on the border with Switzlerand (Lugano) which is totally worth a visit by train. You will fit right in with the locals if you have a beautiful watch on wrist.

When I travel the world, I try to enjoy myself to the fullest!

A watch is not something that I'd be packing if, for one second it would lead to even the smallest distraction in my brief moments of pleasure.....

Seriously one less thing to worry about.

Wear a shirt with rolled up sleeves then you can always roll them down if you spot something/something that looks up to no good. That's how I travel and I never had any problems anywhere.

The nice areas is exactly where criminals go to spot their victims.

Concur. For the sake of mental bandwidth, the only place abroad I wear a Rolex is GB. Not that it’s more/less safe than home, it is another home for me and stay w/family/friends and feel safe there.

Other places, SKX on a nato. If I lose it, it will suck but at least it won’t ruin the trip. Plus, it’s useful. On holiday, I forget the day of the week all the time.

As long as you are aware of your surroundings and have the watch insured, I would take the one you want to spend the 10 days with.

I have travelled Europe with various Rolexes as well as my AP RO and never had to worry about it.

I prefer my Batman - I travel a lot for work (10-14 days a month) and all over the world. Sometimes it’s big cities in Europe and others it’s exotic places in South America or the Middle East.

The Batman is quite the perfect watch as it’s a gmt so I can always tell my home time. It’s got a little bit of color in the bezel which is always fun and blue works for cold climate or tropical climate. Its not as plain as a black sub and not as colorful as a Pepsi.

It’s got a robust case for any water activities you might encounter.

From your selection I’d recommend getting a Batman and bringing that along with the DD40 if you have a good hotel with a safe.

All of them. One for each wrist and one for each ankle.

But probably the DJ41, or none of the above.
