Was the switch to "Swiss Made" dials the end of patina?
I was curious if anyone has ever seen a "Swiss Made" luminova dial that showed signs of age? It seems to me that when they switched from tritum that was the end of the changing color dials.
Does anyone have any examples that might refute this? Thanks. |

At this time, I doubt you will find any luminova dial/hand sets with patina even though it has been around for nearly 25 years.
Only time will tell if Luminova will develop patina.

Depends on what you mean by patina. There are various types of micro spidering on the lacquer of the dial from certain years that I'd consider patina. But if you're just talking about markers/tritium yellowing/darkening....never seen.

I believe I’ve seen an after 02 Bluesy dial that turned purple. I may be mistaken though.

Personally, I haven't seen luminova develop patina. Not yet, at least.

My 16610 tritium is from 1997 and its has little to no "patina" on the lume, maybe, a slight hint of off white. I doubt lumina will ever patina.

Haven't seen luminova dial patina on the lume, but certain 116520s have seen their white dials turn cream.

I doubt superluminova dials will ever patina. And now with chromalight, they will not patina even more so.
If anything, perhaps over the years the luminous material might not hold a charge as long as it used to when it was new. In other words, the luminova will still glow bright but just dim faster than when the dial was new.
