much appreciate the complements..
couldn't justify the cost of one of these but after have a few words with a watch expert, is swinging me back toward appreciating the watch even more. some of these patek piece's take close to a year to be put togather. the movement i have in my 5167 is a pretty standard calibre for patek and takes close to 10 months to put one together i heard...lots of time in this time piece~
good enough for me i guess...

So 'only' 28.000 are mechanical.

It is not a cheap watch but it's is worth it's price. Like others said before, this is another league :)
Some sources quote 600-700 to be the number of steel pieces PP makes in one year.

And I loooooooove the Aquanaut, just that the 5165 fits me better. Great to see more Aquanauts in the TRF community.

John, will you still want to hang out even though I don't own a Patek?

I'm afraid you are going to leave me in the dust now cuz we aren't in the same league anymore. ......................

The quality and craftmanship of these timepieces is incredible. They are also very exclusive.

Rolex makes about 35,000 SS Daytona a year worldwide. Now, we all know how hard it is to get those, right? Well, PP makes about 35,000 watches TOTAL a year. Not just a certain model.

Kirill, couldn't agree with you more about Patek Philippe's exclusivity, but can you tell me how you got this figure about the Daytonas? I'm curious because I thought the total was lower.

I know that more and more high end watches will be coming out with rubber straps as it really has quite an effect from a visual stand point on some designs. But I just can't see spending big money on a watch that has a rubber strap.

According to National Jeweler based on the last Basel show etc. we will be seeing a lot more upper end offerings with rubber straps.

Best Regards,

Thomas Carey

That is just the number that was thrown at me while at Patek training. 35,000 does sound like a legit number for WOLRDWIDE. I mean there are hundreds, if not thousands of Rolex AD's worldwide. Personally, just in this store, I get 2-3 a year (white and black dials combined). I'm sure it was researched prior to telling me that. BTW i just got a rare 5159 in stock. AHHH beautiful!

I am thinking that numbers is not too far off.

Makes some sense to me, and if Patek states it for a fact, I'll accept it. Besides, I would never argue watches with a Patek-trained WIS.
Love that 5159 retrograde date and perpetual calender - a beautiful movement as well. Can you pm me the price?

HK,

You were able to buy into something that is truly EXCLUSIVE, not hype.

While it didn't come "cheap"...........it is certainly worth it , if you are happy.

The 5159 comes in YG and WG. The MSRP are $83,200 and $79,900 accordingly.
