Spring Bars

Not sure where to post this but how important is it to have spare spring bars on hand, when I was swapping my steel bracelet on my Tudor BB to leather it got me thinking that maybe I need to have some spares and I’m sure they are all different so do they break often and do you guys have spares or do you just buy as you need them

Never had one break on me, but heard stories. I can share 1 thing. If you have a gold case, the bars are gold too. If you swap bands around and put in SS bars it will wallow out the holes in the case, be sure to put the gold bars back in. This is directly from the RSC. I was guilty and actually got the lecture. But, heck, who'd a thunk it?

Well I don’t have a gold case, currently I have the DJII 116334 and the Tudor 79230R and I believe they both use the same spring bar but may also be wrong, I was looking on Esslinger putting together some small items for working on bracelets and that got me thinking about spring bars and how reliable they are, I’m sure Rolex and Tudor use good ones but they are spring loaded so my concern is when they fail the watch could fall and do serious damage and I was wondering on there longevity and should they be replaced on an annual basis

I always have kept extras, I’ve not had any fail on me as of yet but I keep them handy nonetheless.

Measure the ones you have and then look for ones to fit. Heck send me a dm and I can probably help you out.

I would suggest just getting them replaced as necessary

I was only thinking about having 3-4 extras for each watch so not a huge investment

I’m guessing OEM bars are a lot more

Have you tried an authorised watchmaker? The bars cost about £3 each, so there’s no way you should have to pay $15 or more for them

I have a set for each bracelet and strap and keep them with their respective bracelet or strap.
