Question to HongKong TRFers

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how much max discount I can get in HongKong ADs for a Lady Datejust? (like 31 or 34mm)

I'm going to HK next week...

Thank you!

C.

for lady datejust, expect around 5% - 10% (if you are lucky) discount, and try look for them in 'not tourist crowded' areas like TST, Central and Causeway bay..

5% is usually the maximum AD discount on any Rolex, and you'll be very lucky to find a SS Sub here right now.

I’d be interested to know too. Was there recently and stopped into the Rolex place in their Times Square. I wasn’t looking to buy then but wasn’t sure if that’s the one you’re talking about as when I’m back, I will be in the purchase looking mode.

Thank you all for your reply. Yes I was aware 5% is more or less a standard, but was hoping for something more for lady datejust as it's not as hot as SS sport models.

I'm not willing do buy in bundle, unless the AD opens the shipment he just received and miraculously pops out a SS GMT BLRO
Everyone can dream...

Yes, 8% is the first thing that comes to mind. You should be able to get 10%.

5% plus gifts like watch pouch and a rolex pen would be nice.

I felt sad for those poor ADs

So there I am, back from HK.
5% was indeed the average discount, but the problem is there was no watch to discount!!

Many ADs hardly have 1 or 2 watches per stands, and many had huge stands totally empty. The remaining watches were typical PMs full of diamonds (even not the most sexy PMs, who are long sold out)

I felt really bad for them. How can they pay their rent and staff if Rolex doesn't give them any product to sell ?!! That's an aspect of the Rolex shortage I hadn't thought about: The ADs. As a customer I can wait, but as an AD, surviving in those times might not be easy...
Some of them were telling me about these struggling times. Especially when you see the other brands next door with full stock.

Some were desperately trying to sell me anything they had. Ugly PMs, leftover references with unsuccessful colors...
Forget about any SS Datejust with silver, rhodium, perl, blue etc. (not even mentioning sport models).

Anyway, I think it's not nice from Rolex to starve the ones who worked hard to be able to sell this brand. Something is just... not right.

Ok, I went a bit off topic...

ADs probably have as many watches as before from Rolex. The only difference is, before it might take them months to sell them with 5% discount. Today watches were all sold in days or hours without discount.

dont worry about them, i'm sure they have their own survival skill to take advantage of the supply and demand discrepancy.

%5 has been the AD discount at least since 2009 and generally speaking that's for anybody, regardless of your status or how many watches you buy.

Yes, most AD have pretty bare displays but some are okay, like over in the New Territories and you just might get lucky. I often see sports models at the boutique near my shop.

Of course, if you really want a Sub, or any sports model really, there are countless grey and used dealers all over the place where you can get what you want.

That's right. Good to know about New Territories. I might just have stayed in the too popular area...
Thanks
