Change in crown stems?

So I was at an AD the other day, killing some time and fooling around with some of the exhibition models (working). Not sure why, but something made me try and set the time on a 124273. Noticed that the crown stem looks a little longer/thinner than on my watch. Same dimensions, same movement, different years. Did something change between model years?

Unfortunately, wasn't wearing mine at the time to compare, so going by memory in both directions. Am I just misremembering what I saw?
