Surprise Incoming

Been looking at a few watches recently from a RG DD @ £46,000 (at my local bricks and mortar reseller) which I have to say was absolute gorgeous to the GS I posted about a couple of weeks back.

Anyway. Was browsing online last night and the “Captain Willard” reinterpretation caught my eye. Like. Really caught my eye.

Very subtle faux patina. The lightly textured matt grey dial. The case shape and importantly slightly smaller size. The bevelled slightly curved sapphire crystal.

Decided to take a walk through the Argyle Arcade in my home city of Glasgow. The arcade is a covered “street” full of jewellery and watch shops.

My retailer of choice had everything but the SPB237J1. The “proper” Willard, yeah?

Tried on a few. Great watches but no 237. Walked past a few more and there it was. In the window. On the green nato.

10 minutes later. Deal done. Decent discount too.

Got home and stuck it on the grey strap. The green is nice but the gray is more my colour.

I’m not a massive fan of full NATOs and it’s a lovely but thick strap.

Quick couple of cuts, sealed the ends with a chef’s blowtorch and one quickly modified single pass strap later (kept the green original) and done! Perfection (for me).

And the obligatory wrist shot. It’s a great size and extremely comfortable. One of those watches that looks and feels so much better in real life.

Absolutely love this one!

Great choice, Scott! I can see why you closed the deal on this as quickly as you did, you'll never regret that. Enjoy in good health.
