Thoughts on 5230g?
Really thinking of pulling the trigger but the idea that the watch is useless half of the year (daylight savings time) is really putting me off.
Any thoughts/advice? |

It is a great watch and can be bought with a decent discount. I get what you meant by the complication being useless for half of the year. However will it put you off getting a 5131P at MSRP? If it is really putting you off Greubel Forsey GMT Earth is the one to get.

Thoughts on 5230g?
I was close to pulling the trigger on a 5230r. Aside from a complication that is probably useful to me for one time zone on non DST season, the one that really bothered me is the possible availability of a cloisonné dial in the future for an extra amount via application route which would make the current 5230 a bit “incomplete” and possibly “inferior by perception”. With the price of a WT that one has to pluck in, it has to be the best.
I am still in search for my Patek and the current collection doesn’t excite me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I am in the same boat as you. Eager to switch from Rolex to Patek, however, nothing super exciting in the current lineup (not a fan of Nautilus or Aquanaut). One alternative I am considering is 5140g, however, 37.2mm might be a tad small for my 7 inch wrist. |

My gut feeling tells me that this watch is slowly growing on many people (especially after seeing it in person) and that it will become highly coveted in the future. I suspect that the general interest about the 5230 will increase after Patek launches the P and that may end up attracting more interest to the current G and R too. As for me, I like the 5230G
