Icon5 Community wisdom needed - DD40 VS CHNR+SteelSkyD+DJ41

Given the previous context in 4 years - djII (various), dj41 (various), explorer ii black red, explorer ii black orange, milgauss black, yacht master rhodium, yacht master bicolor blue dial, black sub date, black sub no date, sub bicolor blue, blnr, sky d wg black on bracelet, dd 40 blue romans, dd 40 rose diagonal motif, pp 5712, pp 5165, pp 5164, pp 5205 gray, daytona 116500 white, daytona bicolor black dial + bunch of various iwc's. Assuming just one iwc chrono stays -- what would you add to stop the twist for a long time:

day date 40 dark rhodium stripes + explorer ii black orange OR
chnr + sky d black steel + dj 41 romans rhodium smooth on jubilee

?

Wow, never saw a DD in that configuration. Reminds me of the Nautilus but with a vertical orientation. Very nice.

I’d choose #1 as it covers all the bases for me in only two pieces. Dressy/casual sheik, to sporty casual.

I’m in the minority here, but I’m not really a fan of the TT CHNR and the DJ with romans doesn’t sing to me.

As above but explorer ii white dial is more neutral for casual situations. I think explorer ii is the most underrated Rolex. Cyclops, GMT and heft. That’s all one needs in casual.

Option 1 covers everything. Not much of a fan of that DJ. Do love the CHNR though.

And what if you change CHNR to BLNR and DJ romans to DJ sticks (blue or rhodium)?

Personally, I'd go option 1, though with a blue or green dial DD and a polar Explorer II. That's purely personal preference though -- your combo is killer.

dont you think that explorer II might be not dressy enough for certain foreign affairs then dual time is actually a meaningful function?

Please seduce me to polar. I do not really get black hands on the white background - it seems like a toy, isn't it? while with the black one hands being black in the middle somehow float over the matte dial which is quite unusual

I suppose it may ... but honestly I don't see the need for two GMT type functions.

In this case, less is more for me

agree that it is the ultimate combo but ~25% above the allocated budget as of today. although it might have sense to get DD now first and add CHNR some time after when the greed is gone

#1. DD40 > all of those other watches, and exp makes a nice rugged pairing.

Option 1 gets my vote. DD and EXP2 is a great two watch combo that would cover all situations.

I'd pick dd40 + CHNR

however, if I had to choose, i'd go option 2

The dd40 and the dj41, although different, since they're white gold and steel, they serve the same purpose in terms of looks. IMO
The SkyD gives you the complications and a black dial which goes with every occasion
The CHNR is fun and has some flash to it.

I personally think option 2 covers all bases more so than option 1.
