Sub C just back from RSC service but . . .
. . . are the lugs overpolished? Did they remove material from the lugs? Or am I being paranoid?
Looking forward to your collective comments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They don't look as sharp, but none of the pictures are in focus. Were there dings on the edges of the case?

Why did it need to go for service? Also, what instructions did you provide RSC?

Polished ? Shouldn't it be brushed ?
It does look a little bit more "bright" compared to my Sub but it's still fine IMO... No worries !

About 10 years old. Wasn’t running as well. No instructions were given. I just wanted the “normal“ service from RSC which included movement and whatever polishing to get it looking new again. There were not many dings or scratches. Just ordinary wear and tear.
Now I think it looks like they took off material from the lugs specifically. They don’t look as “fat” as they used to be. Sorry the pics aren’t that great. iPhone camera. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Most people prefer slimmer lugs. I think they look normal though.

looks fine to me. Wear the hell out of it again for 10 years and then if you must add factory lines back, send it off to LAWW

They look good from the photos but it may be completely different in real life. It might be in your head, but it might not be. If you can find an AD that has a brand new Sub in the showcase, maybe you can compare it to yours and see if there are any differences. But I would just wear it and enjoy it.

You definitely need to find a subc of your vintage that hasn't been serviced and use a micrometer to measure the lug width and compare with your completely ruined watch. I am positive that your lugs are at least 0.001 inches too thin. What a disaster. I would call the DA in your area and refer this for prosecution.

Hilarious! In all honesty I’m not overly concerned. I love it and it looks great. Just wonder if it’s all in my head about the lugs being visibly slimmer than before it went in for service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If there were not deep scratches or dings, the amount of material removed in a rebrush/polish would not noticeably slim the lugs. We are talking microns of metal removal. Could soften the edges a bit but as others said, can be easily corrected next time.

Unless the bracelet won’t stay attached to the lugs, it’s not over polished. Wear, read time, make memories, enjoy.

Maybe just the pictures but it almost looks like they put bevels on the case in that first photo.

OP you are not imagining things. A number of years ago I sent my 16710 in for servicing. I didn't not ask them to polish out any scratches. When I got it back I instantly noticed how much "skinnier" and thin it looked. I thought I was imagining things but it was obvious to me that the case wasn't as thick and boxy as I remember. I think over polishing takes off the tiniest amount off the side edges, lugs and chamfer and creates what you are seeing. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it, but you know your own watch.

No more case shaming folks!
OP let’s see some sharper pics. Otherwise they look ok to me, but as others have mentioned the pics aren’t really in focus so it’s hard to tell. |
