Sending Rollie to RSC, please help

I have just sent my 1603 DJ to the RSC on Bexley, Kent. What should I expect from a full service? I know they lube the movement etc. Will they replace the hands (they are looking a little grubby) crystal (tiniest of scratches on the cyclops) or will they just polish them up?

Also, they said there may be a surcharge as it is an old model (1977). How much is likely to be...anyone?

Thanks

Shieldsy

I have just had my quote for a 1967 1601, and yes there is a surchage to service this age of watch (circa £300). They will replace the crystal, and also the hands if necessary. They will clean and refurbish your watch so it will look like new when it is returned.

Now worries.... Rolex takes the watch movement completely apart, replaces any parts that are out of tolerance, including the stem tube and crown, crystal if it is acrylic, and refinishes the bracelet and case..

They will replace the hands or dial if you request, or if they are deteriorating, also they will give you a written estimate of cost and recommendations before they commence with any work..

Thanks for the info Dan

Is the £300 surcharge including the £235 service or is that on top of the service? If so that takes it over £500 for a service?

Cheers

Estimate

Just got my estimate back - £333 and that includes surcharge. Apparently the bezel was glued on? It needs a new oscilating weight and the bracelet is showing signs of wear. Also includes a new date wheel at my request.

Cheers
