Brooks Brothers would be a good start for nice English shoes that you try on in person and do not care if they are Sargent's or C&J made for Brooks Brothers. I have heard that Brooks Brothers may have their shoes at 20-25% off sometime in April (Easter Sale???).
If you do chose to use Brooks Brothers, you may want to get your local store to get them for you. This way you won't have to pay for shipping, and you can get a couple of sizes without paying for either before chosing the size that works best for you.

However there are quite a bit more selection at Ben Silvers.

church's

here are some of my church's freshly shot this afternoon

the lobbs i wear on more special occasions. bit like wearing the pateks to a special meeting etc

my latest pair of church's, grade 1 leather and custom fit. as comfy as lobbs and will last me for the next 25 years. i can always justify spending £600-700 on a good pair of shoes

i always buy two pair of the same model i like as you should never wear a good pair of leather shoes two days in a row (they need to dry out). so it's important to have a few on standby and also keep tree shoes inside when not worn

different style church's flexi sole. wore these back from the office as i couldn't bear changing back to the eccos!

Thanks.

I've been looking at a pair of spectators for a couple of months now.

In fact these where the firsts ones I found.

Vass has a couple that are real cool. But their lasts probably wouldn't work so well for me, and their colors aren't really the summer thing I've been looking for.

It's true that Prada purchased Churches.

But then again Hermes purchased John Lobbs.

From the Church website:

http://www.church-footwear.com/en/UK.../en/UK/history

100% of Church’s men’s welted shoes are manufactured in Northampton. The Goodyear construction, that has given English footwear its worldwide fame, has proved to be both complex and reliable. Instead of being stitched directly together, the sole and upper are first stitched on to a “welt”, a strip of hand-cut leather, which is then in turn stitched on to the bottom of the shoes in the early stages of manufacture. This construction means that the sole can be easily detached from the bottom of the shoe in the case of a repair and be resoled for a second life.

the only thing Prada has done after purchasing Church's is provide more funding to open more shops and refurbish existing ones

they're still made in northampton and nothing has changed

Yeah, all mine are Church's. Everyone from a different last but all just as comfortable. I've got everything from brogue boots to loafers. 103s, 107s...

Bicester or Herring shoes for the best bargains!

John Lobb uses the most supple and comfortable leather I have ever seen (actually felt on ones foot).

Edward Green Galways.

These are the more common Dark Oak and Walnut Country Calf version with the Dainite sole.

They come in many different configurations and many different colors.

Most are different on the bottom from the shaft of the boot.

Some come with a suede shaft.
