A few days ago Firefox disabled a bunch of extensions because of some glitch, but I went to the add-on page just now and I was able to reactivate the ad-blocker I was using before then and it's blocking the ads without triggering my security software.
So, I'm good for now. However, these ads only started showing up today, so they are not related to the Firefox glitch.
