My Planet Ocean Chronograph 9900 has arrived!
It's finally here! I wanted one of these for a while and considered the older model years ago but it didn't fully do it for me. When I saw the updated version for the first time it blew me away! I'm now the proud owner of the 215.30.46.51.03.001!
No other watch appealed to me as much as this and Omega did an excellent job with all aspects. From the packaging, design improvements, and showcasing the beautiful movement with the sapphire case back! Pictures don't do this piece justice. I'm going to see if I can capture it better in sunlight. For the most part I feel like my collection is complete! Now I can be motivated by aiming to one day own the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore! I haven't been this excited in a while! After playing around on the Omega site for a while I found some neat into. I also saved the Master Chronometer Certificate as a PDF. |

In 2007 I bought a 2220.80 Seamaster Professional (the one worn in Casino Royale) brand new. I ordered the COSC certificate which was free to do back then, once purchased new from an AD. My 2225.80 was purchased pre-owned last year but was from an AD with all documentation. It was past the 10 years for which they kept the COSC information on file, so I was unable to receive one for that which is fine. Hopefully Omega offers a printed version of the Master Chronometer Certificate, as I'll surely get one for this of possible. Quote:
A great piece but in this era was overshadowed by another brand. Also, I wasn't completely fond of how rounded the bracelet was, as I felt it could be more refined. Sold that off to fund another piece with no regrets. Given my obsession with Chronograph watches the Planet Ocean Chronograph with the 9300 movement came on my radar a few years later. A fantastic watch but some aspects were too much like the original Planet Ocean I sold, not as refined as I would've liked and the matte dial wasn't my preference. Well, Omega addressed every one of my concerns for the 9900 movement model and the rest is history! Keeping this piece, for life. Quote:
I've been thinking about the Ploprof 1200 (steel on steel, date) a lot lately. They're not easy to find pre-owned with a full set it seems. A lot of history behind that watch and it's so unique. Source on image Years ago I tried one on at the AD and was shocked at how well it fit me despite being such an odd, large design. It wears smaller than most would think and I would love to have one if I could find a great deal on one in the future. |

Congratulations, I’ve owned all the Planet Ocean Chrono variants over the years, I started with the original 3 x counter version, I now have this 9900 ceramic model which is my favourite so far.

Thanks! That's a very nice piece you've got there! Omega makes so many variants one could collect just these as some do for the Speesmaster. What's the weight of that one like? |

IMO, THE best technical dive watch. I use my chronograph as well as dive bezel on dives now.
In case anyone wanted to know a size comparison. |

I contacted the AD I got this from about the Ploprof 1200M. My collection lacks an extreme diver and despite having a desire for the Deepsea the availability and current rates don't make it as tempting, as I missed out. Rich history behind the Ploprof and albeit an acquired taste, I was fortunate to try one one many years ago at a local AD and was shocked at how well it fit me considering what it is and my wrist size. Source on image I'm glad to hear you actually dive with your Planet Ocean. Although I haven't yet, I can tell just from examining it that Omega did an outstanding job planning for it's intended purpose. Thanks! Tomorrow will be one week since I received this piece via FedEx from the US authorized dealer. It's hard to want much else after this but I'm sure either the aforementioned Ploprof or something else will sway me in time. There's something special about the Ploprof that just connects with me. Historically significant and incredibly unique. |

Beautiful watch, not just a piece of steel, that's all beef!!!
Still loving my PO 2500, but the 300m looks better than ever. Hope you enjoy all of them.

Thanks, Jack! I'm certainly enjoying them all!
I wanted to repurchase the 2220.80 and the 2500 Planet Ocean but based on the prices at the time it would've been more than this. Luckily my 2225.80 fills the void of the original 300M. The Planet Ocean with the 2500 movement was a neat piece, and one thing that was super cool was how the domed crystal looked from an angle. Such a nice piece but I seem to be all about the updated versions going forward. |

Thanks for that info, I hope to see these other models at an AD in the future to compare. Ironically, I bought this watch without seeing it in person and things worked out perfectly.
They're not easy to find in stock at the closest AD to me as they seem to have more of the 300M, typically, or non-chrono Planet Ocean pieces in the display case. Always available for order though which is nice but can't wait to check out the ceramic model! |

Great collection, congrats My 1st Omega last year was a 2225.80 like yours and what a great watch it is, I love it as well as my brand new Seamaster 300.

Thanks, Wolfgang! Thrilled to discover another 2225.80 owner. I prefer this piece much more over the more basic version as the movement fills the case vs. having that big metal spacer. Even though it's never seen the concept of that bothered me.
Spacer seen below in the 2220.80 with the cal. 2500 movement. Image from omegaforums.net Cal.1164 in the 2225.80 Image from old eBay listing Image from old eBay listing Image from old eBay listing Image from old eBay listing Image from old eBay listing Crazy about the watch and to me it represents a golden era for the brand. The Seamaster 300 is a nice piece also! Please post pictures of both here, especially the 2225.80! |

Congratulations and wear it in great health. Quick question... I am considering the same watch but with the grey dial and the orange bezel. I have a 7 1/4 wrist and am used to wearing large watches (Panerai, Breitling). How does this wear? Does it wear smaller, larger or = to it's 45.5mm spec?

In my opinion it wears small, as I have a very small wrist. It comes with 7 links on each side and I had to remove two per side for the obvious total of 4. I didn't even need to micro adjust with the push button system. Part of this is due to the fact the end links pivot and don't stick out. Same of course for the watch on a strap, as both go straight down. I would highly recommend going for this piece! Below is a great review of the variant you're looking into which should help convince you to move forward! |

Thank you Rommel for the input. Ordering it tomorrow. Interestingly, I had a deposit on a Rolex Deep Sea James Cameron since last May. Always admired and appreciated the PO Chronograph. Got tired of waiting and now moving on to the PO. Will definitely enjoy this and will get lots of wrist time. |

Awesome! Looking forward to your incoming thread! There's nothing like this watch on the market. Omega adding the display case back really puts this on another level in my opinion.
The James Cameron Deep-Sea is nice but the ridiculous wait takes away from it. For me it's so much more enjoyable having a Chronograph to play around with and appreciate the function of. Too many reasons to like this watch but I'm confident you're making the right choice here! |

Thanks! That's one of the things I really appreciate about Omega, they offer so many options. So much variety with all the different choices.
