Omega Service Advice

I have an Omega Aqua Terra that I meed to send in for service. The hour hand references the hour index at 20 past and at the top of the hour is short of the intended target, see pics. This pretty much drives me nearly insane. I know with the Rolex crowd a good number of members recommend the Dallas service center. So, my question is do any of you have history with an Omega SC and which one would you recommend. Thanks.

Sorry to see your beautiful watch is having a problem. Is it still under warranty? If not I can take mine to a local Omega store for repair or they could send it in. I have not had to send one in for service or otherwise...... Yet. So I'm keeping a eye on this thread for information.
Wish you the best.

Yes, still under warranty. I am a bit over an hour drive to the closest AD, so not the most convenient option.

That's funny - the same thing happened to mine like 3 months ago (2 months after I had bought it...and I only wear it sparingly since it's PM).

I took it to my AD, and they sent it to Omega's Service Center for me (although I think you can make a claim independent of your AD). It was fixed under warranty - took about 7 weeks I think.

Sorry it happened, but it must be an issue with the movement since it happened to mine too.

The 8800 has the date at the 3 o clock and the 8900 has it at the six o clock. First time I've heard about this issue. Was think about getting the Omega AT, now I have to look out to make sure it's not an ongoing problem..

I haven't really measured overall accuracy/consistency, but spot checks appear that the watch runs fine, keeps good consistent time, just hour hand index is off.

Why not contact Omega directly and send it to their Secaucus NJ repair facility? I believe the inquiry form is on their website.

Over the years I believe Omega / Swatch Group have significantly tightened up critical parts supply. Items watchmakers would need to repair a piece aren't as readily available. Albeit possible for me to call Swatch Canada and get most components this seems to be the case.

Sending it off to the nearest factory service centre gets my vote. I hope you get the watch back soon, it'll be as good as new!

For clarification, I called Omega, they mailed me a small box with a foam insert and a pre-paid label to ship to their Miami service center. They also were quite clear they wanted a photocopy of the warranty card, not the actual card. Interesting difference between them and Rolex I believe.

Yeah, they're good about this. Next, if you haven't already received it, they'll send you instructions and credentials for logging in to their portal for communicating their findings and tracking the progress of the work.

Not true. My 8800 in my 300m and the 8900 in the AT 41 are both at 6:00 (date window)

Well, I was referring to the AT 150m and not the 300m as per the OP posted. So, I believe I'm correct..

They changed the date position with the change in "Master Chronometer " from " Master co- Axial " at the same time the vertical dial lines went horizontal. Your still incorrect. If you doubt my statement you can look at the Omega website. It's not a secret or anything.

Had the identical problem with my AT a few months ago. Swatch sent the prepaid packaging to my home and request only a copy of the warranty card.

Sent to the NJ service center and diagnosed as dry/no oil. It took about seven weeks turnaround time for a full mechanical service and it just came home Monday.

It is back on my wrist and will be put back into rotation next week.

I was kind of interested in the AT 150m grey dial on a leather band and was thinking of picking one up in a few months, but now that I'm reading about this problem with the movement I'm having second thoughts. I see this has happened to a few who posted and now I'm wondering if it's something that going to be a problem with this reference. I'll have to keep my eye on this subject. I guess time will tell if the problem keeps occurring.

I think the problem is few a very far between. For the most part they are pretty much trouble free. My official Rolex/ Omega/Tudor/Breitling authorized repair man at a authorized AD has told me every watch produced in the millions will a small percentage that have a defect. Be it workmanship, defective part or poor design. Occasional poor workmanship accounts for most. Even at that, the number is VERY small.

He states that out of the above brands, Tudor has the most returns for service followed by Rolex, Breitling and Omega. I have been told on many occasions by highly qualified Rolex repairman that Omega is by far the most dependable and finest movement made in there learned opinion. Save the Breitling B01 chronograph movement.
And this was conveyed to me when buying my 5th Rolex.

I would bet that when it returns it will be a impressive piece that you can count on day in and day out. I my self never had a problem with a Omega for any reason. 4 out of 5 Rolex's I have owned have been returned for repair. Some several times.

I don't currently own a Rolex, but I know that they are mechanical in nature and most certainly "could" have a problem. This will not sway me from buying another.... should I desire too. Several have also stated that these watches are made to be worn. Used everyday. Not meant for occasional use. The more it's worn, the better it gets, everything moving, springs expanding and contracting, gears turning. Like any machine, if you let them sit, the problems start. It is just mechanical nature. You let your mower or car sit, you WILL have problems. It's just the way it is have it repaired, strap it on and wear it for years. That's what there made for.
