I'd imagine people's responses to your takeaways are going to be pretty polar opposite, because depending on which part of the country people live in, everyone's AD experience is going to be different. But personally I do agree with pretty much all of your feedbacks, particularly in a large market with uber amount of money sloshing around. You either pound your SA with money by helping their sales goals or pray the SA just likes you because you have a nice smile with clean teeth. Like some said before it's the same game with Hermes - one of my wife's friends kept being "suggested" into buying a boat load of random pieces before was finally offered a Birkin, whereas we lucked out with a different sales which landed our desired Birkin in a very short amount of time with barely a handful of casual visits.

The only logic where I differ from you is, in my view you essentially still paid grey-like money with the 45k+ spend history (or whatever the sum minus the YG Daytona). I mean it's understood in today's market that's just how it is, almost like the sunk cost of doing business, but I just hope one came away with some other nice jewelry/time pieces that served his and/or his family well, which certainly seems like the case for you.
Thank you for the feedback. Congrats on the Birkin.

The ladies enjoy their jewelry, and I still have my watches I purchased minus the YM. I loved it until I didn’t, and with the uptick in prices I did sell for a minor profit. So that’s the only purchase that didn’t stick, but it essentially paid for the YG Daytona.

**Update**

I am one of the few who like two-tone and my collection is becoming more Daytona centric by design, so I decided to add a two tone Daytona. I requested the two tone black dial from AD1 and AD3. Strangely enough AD3 (from whom I just received my 116500 and have the much heavier spend history with) told me it could be several months, while it took AD1 15 days to procure one for me. While the Bluesey gets all the two tone love, this really is a beautiful two tone piece and easily my favorite two tone, especially with the black dial. To me this is a sleeper two tone, although grey prices creeping up may mean its not a sleeper anymore.

Updated spend:

AD1 - $39k
AD2 - $19k
AD3 - $76k

Thanks for reading,

JB

Your story is familiar and sounds about par for the course. Your best bet is to stick with AD 3 and ride it out. You don’t want to do business with people you don’t like.

The ADs are in a tough spot with the shortage of inventory to sell so they maximize the profit for in demand items. My AD gets 1 white dial Daytona a year. It goes to the best customer - period. I was happy to be able to buy a Sub.

Life’s too short. If you really want the white dial SS Daytona then bite the bullet and go grey! DavidSW can have it FedEx to you tomorrow.

While I do want the white dial now, this journey started with just wanting a SS Daytona, from an AD. I was able to acquire a 116500LN, which was I must admit was my first choice. Now I will focus on the white dial.

I also requested a 116508 and a DD RG Olive dial, and put down a deposit for the DD, so we will see.

I’m in your area too, I think I can guess the ADs...

I actually don’t know how to post pics. I’ll figure it out tomorrow and get a couple up.
