Zenith Chronomaster Sport

I like the look of the new zenith Chronomaster sport. Daytona homage?
Will it dethrone the Daytona? What do you think?

It's a great watch and a superb movement. Can't help but feel it's a "so you couldn't get a Rolex Daytona" kind of watch.

history tells us that nothing stays on top for ever. Truth be told, it's better than the Daytona and arguable better looking. Just as is the Omega SMP is better than the Submariner (granted I prefer the look of the Sub).

The throne is not held on actual merit more than just hype and market perception, which can shift on a dime - it’s not far fetched. Remember the PAM days?

Dethrone? When did watch collecting become a battle? Nevermind, I forgot that social media turned it into one.

When society recovers from COVID issues, every one needs to attend a local get together to remember what it’s like to simply appreciate a watch and have normal conversations.

It looks pretty good, I think it will looks better if all sub-dial have the same color.

Daytona homage? Pretty much!

Will it dethrone the Daytona? I doubt it.

$10K? Any discount?

In the executive suites of Richemont, Swatch, Rolex and the like it’s a battle.

I don’t really see a battle here - simply because the Daytona is unavailable and may as well not exist at all. Rolex has put itself out of contention as a result of its silly marketing ploy and I sure as hell will not pay double retail, let alone for an arguably inferior movement.

How to get to that let me see, the dial is different, the sub dials are different, the name on the dial is different, hour markers are different, the case is different, crono pushers and winding crown are different, markings on bezel are different, it has a date function which is different, and the bracelet is different, apart from these differences some may think they are similar to a Daytona and yes the dial is white just like many other watches..

Not a homage at all. Zenith does not has the wide appeal of the Rolex brand but is technically superior than Rolex.

Don’t forget who’s Daytona’s 16520 Daddy lol

I'm getting one but was told they won't arrive for a month. My white Daytona will still get worn but this would be my choice for vacation and less worry.

Love the added date. If all the dials were the same color, take my money.

The Zenith Chronomaster Sport looks like an updated version of the Zenith De Luca.

Everything is different and yet when you put it all together, it’s a Daytona homage. Sorry but anyone disputing that is trying hard to look away from the obvious.

Looks nice. Love having a date on a chrono but the 4/5 placement always bugs me on any watch. My OCD can't take it.

It looks a lot better than the Daytona IMO. Funny to see all gate keeping Rolex fanboys thinking every chrono with a ceramic bezel is a Daytona rip-off.

Has anybody seen any live photos of the strap option?

Yes - it’s the Zenith Daytona that Rolex refuses to sell to willing buyers. This time it is not Tag or Breitling hoping to join the bandwagon. This is the company whose automatic chrono powered the Daytona for 12 years and now vastly improved it. I placed an order for a white one on steel with my AD this morning. Tough luck for Rolex and good on Zenith.

Congrats on your new watch, and wear it in excellent health

Rolex and Zenith have had a symbiotic relationship. It’s business and neither owes the other anything. They worked together until they didn’t. I guess Zenith felt comfortable doing what they did with the design on these and there will be opinions on all sides. Time will tell if this will help Zenith or hurt Rolex. The former may be possible, the latter impossible.

Yeah but in a "Too far down the waiting line" way, not the usual "A Rolex was too expensive for you, huh ?".

Look. It’s slightly larger which appeals to me. It has a date function that the Daytona lacks.

In its own right, it is a nice watch, a little on the busy side. But tolerable.

On the other hand, it’s just not a Daytona. It won’t dethrone the crown. But it does appeal to me as an alternative since the Daytona wears small on my wrist.

Thank you. I am sure Zenith releasing this watch will not hurt Rolex in any way. It’s just that I don’t consider the Daytona to be part of the equation at the moment. It is not available for purchase at an AD - in fact, Rolex might as well have discontinued it. So I don’t see the need for comparisons with the Zenith or the other way around.
