Was a one Rolex (5513) from 1988 till 1994 when just one could no longer do... Many years and many Rolex watches later, I can't go back to a one only, though from time to time, I entertain the idea of simplifying again someday

I am yearning for a simpler life.

I have four v good watches and I would love to have just the one in the sense that I keep chopping and changing the one in my wrist.

One is my late fathers date just, one is an IWC mark xvi that my wife bought for my 40th.

I also have a vc gen1 overseas chrono and a tutor black bay.

Will never sell the rolex or the iwc.

I think the IWC is most likely to be my one watch (although Tudor most multi purpose)

I like the motto "Two is one and one is none...", it usually applies to firearms ownership, but I think it works for anything really.

Ideally, I would like just one and just it be my companion for everything. But then I think what if I need service or anything or one goes down, then I like the idea of having a second. I had 5 rolexes at one time, and honestly, it was too redundant and I struggled to justify the overlap (GMT, SUB, SUB No date - they all were just slightly different versions of the same thing) and so I got it down to two.

Two is ideal for me (one dressier, one sporty) and i have two kids, so the heirloom deal works there too. Doesnt stop me from wanting others from time to time.

I often wonder this

Was a one watch guy for the longest time wearing my father’s 1601 everyday through everything. From diving down to wrecks at 40m, to climbing mountain summits, surfing, snowboarding, SCCA, not to mention dinners and work.

Then during the last service I came to the realization that Dad’s watch is getting pretty beat up and Rolex may not be able to bring it back to good working order forever. So, keeping a modest collection to allow for steady rotation

My life recently got a whole bunch more simple. I am seriously considering consolidating into a DD. Problem is, I can't find one around to try on to see if I'll be comfortable with the pm weight. I'll have to wait a bit, I guess.

Simplified my life a few months ago. Got rid of my 4 watches (sub, VC, Datejust and Omega)
I then went all in on a Platinum day date 40mm, 228206, quadrant dial. I wear it all the time. Best move ever.

One is enough for me. I have owned one Rolex since my early 20s. I'm now 61. I've moved through several watches as the mood hit me. Currently, I'm in a Tudor Submariner as my daily wear.

In addition to the Rolex (or Tudor at present), I always had a good Casio as my exercise and yard work watch and a decent dress watch for Church. The current Casio is an Illuminator and the dress watch is a Citizen Eco-Drive.

Well...yes... For the last 14 months, I find myself only wearing the 126660 JC. I have many other watches but they are not making it out of the safe. I'm sure this will change...

having a bunch of anything is a lack of happeniness and they just use obtaining material object man makes to full a void. Its a know fact. I could have a ton of watches but I know i will only feel good for a point of time and the cycle starts again.

I own one. In the future I wouldnt be opposed to a few more, although I think the one I own now will always be my daily watch. For that matter, in a perfect world I'd love to own several items from the likes of Zenith, JLC, Vacheron Constantin, and several micro brands. Maybe one day!

tough one to answer. i have definitely gravitated to a smaller collection.
if it were that easy i could fire off 30 watches i'd like to own. but they'd get all the less wrist time and i would cherish each one less than if i owned 5.

i definitely don't want "Rolex-looking" watches though. i mean many styles overlap, but i don't see the point in owning a non-Rolex when it is a Rolex i wanted. so my DDII, for example, looks like what it's supposed to.

inheriting a watch from pops would definitely add sentimental value. hoping my kids enjoy my watches when they inherit them

If I can get my hands on a new 36mm Explorer, I would STRONGLY consider selling the rest of my Rolex collection. While I like my sub, EXP II and Daytona, I know the Explorer will get all of my wrist time. The Explorer is perfect to me and now that it's 36mm again, it's even better.
