Calatrava 5117r opinions please?
I'm hoping to purchase a 2003 Calatrava 5117r with box and papers on Saturday.
I do really like the model and at 37mm find it isn't too small, was just wondering how this model with the 315 movement is regarded on here? |

I like the watch. It may not be everyone's cup of tea with its hobnail bezel and crown guards. But what matters is you love it.

In my limited experience the 315 movement is a trusted work horse. I have it in a 1999 Calatrava that I have owned for many years now w/o issues.
The 5117 would not be for me. The crown guards are sporty whereas the hob nail bezel is very traditional. For me the two don't work well together. I much prefer the 5107, especially the stealthy black-dial P. |

The cal 315 is extremely reliable. I prefer it with its longer power reserve to the cal 325 that replaced it.
Style choices are too personal to rely on the opinions of strangers with different priorities. If the size and appearance appeals to you then I think you’ve found a winner. |

I can only seem to upload a 150x150 pic so apologies for that.
Watch was made in 07/2002, just serviced and fitted with a new black strap, it's a full set and even includes the outer cardboard box. |

Congratulations. I have the 5117G, same watch but in white gold. Since I wear a suit to workevery day, it gets plenty of wrist time. One of the most comfortable, understated and elegant watches I have (I own Rolex, AP, Omega, Seiko, Longines and Breguet). Are you still loving it 8 months later?
