Finally found one!

I've been trying to find one of these brand new for quite a while & yesterday my AD called me to say Omega had just delivered one to him

I didn't mind if it was a black or white face as I like them both equally.

To make things even beter, I got a great discount on it

It's now added to this collection

That is possibly the best looking OMEGA out there.....with the white dial coming in a close second or even possibly matching up.

It's got all the features of any dive watch PLUS the GMT feature. What I love most about it is the absence of the Helium valve at 10 o'clock.

Congratulations on your new watch. I love my SMP GMT to bits...........in fact it never comes off my wrist now.
There must be quite a few of us on TRF who have this watch now.
I think Perdu and Lol X were the first. The pictures they posted were superb and got us all going.
Very nice collection by the way.

Well I can fully respect your view and opinion on this but... For judging the looks even though sometimes the best designs appeal to the maajority, everyone has their own taste. Just your opinion of course but kinda know what you mean about Omega a "cover band" for Rolex. They can be similar in some ways and often compared. I am an Omega owner, and from what they are doing with the new styling of the SeaMaster (Black dial and bezel on the one that looks most like the Submariner) and Bond advertising it would seem fair to think so. But they are more so just doing things the "right" way so to speak to help boost the brand, it's recognition and status. Things that would make any watch brand more well known etc that Rolex seemed to have discovered or used way before. Rolex is still without a doubt my alltime favourite but just my $0.02

Well done, Dan. I've been sort of obsessing on the 2234.50 the last few days. Since the 2254.50 and the white GMT are already discontinued, I'm afraid that one's going to follow. I think it's going to be my next watch - the two-tone dial is nicely done.

Dan, the Seamaster GMT is a fantastic piece. Wonderfully accurate, amazing lume, sword hands, and multi-timezone capability make such a practical watch in addition to being drop dead gorgeous.

What a great addition to a stunning collection. Nicely done.

I would have one right now too, but I thought I could find a BNIB Great White without any trouble....

The result, I have neither............

Wonderful acquisition, Dan. Not only does it not have the helium valve crown at 10, it also doesn't have the totally superfluous cyclops! A good dependable movement makes it a bargain in the marketplace.

Larry the price on these GMT's is very reasonable........so do yourself a favour, it is one heck of a cool watch in so many ways.
Rock on

Dave,

The 2254.50 is still in production. The GMT (white and black) is discontinued, so if you want one, now is the time.

Thanks, Gary. My understanding (from a number of online forums and my AD) is that the 2254.50 has been discontinued - not sure if it was late last year, earlier this year, in process, etc. I know that it was in the 2007 catalog, and I'm told (since I don't have one yet) that it's not in the 2008. Fortunately, I picked one up a few weeks ago and it's been on my wrist everyday since.

I agree with you on the GMT - now is definitely the time if I want a new one (and I do...).

Dan,

You have a very impressive collection of fine watches. I have just bought a brand new Sea-Dweller and would like to add a Daytona (probably a white dial) to my collection in future. Your Daytonas in black dial and white dial are an envy of any watch collector. You have fine taste. Enjoy your collection and God bless you.

My other watches:
IWC Flieger Chronograph
Omega Speedmaster Chrono Triple Date w Black/Blue Sub-Dial
Omega Speedmaster Chrono Triple Date w black dial
Omega Dynamic Chrono
Oris Carlos Coste 2000m Limited Edition
Players Automatic Watch (1950s)
Seiko Scuba Divers 200m Auto (Made in Japan)
Seiko Scuba Divers 200m Kinetic
