i own a rolex sub/ date is a bremont a step down or up?

Hi from a newbie.

I like Bremont too. I was talking to very reputable second-hand watch dealer in London about them a few months ago. He said the resale value of them is absolutely diasastrous, so bear that in mind if you are thinking of buying one. Although if you are planning on keeping it for a long time then I guess it doesn't matter so much.

I've never heard of Bremont. Looks like nice watches however many watches do not hold up in value as Rolex watches. Who cares though. If you find a watch that speaks to you, then get it. It's your watch and you will be the one wearing it and enjoying it. Good luck on your decision.

Buy what you like. From what I've read about Bremont, they have a good product. They are the new kids on the block, a block filled with 100+ year old companies.

I'm not saying this is the case with Bremont, but watch sellers frequently make a killing when a customer walks in to look at Rolex, has a little sticker shock, and is guided over to the Raymond Weil or Tourneau brand watches.

From what I can see, they are very attractive, high quality watches. But you will suffer with resale.

Chris,I nearly did them same,but in the end didn't go as the round trip was to far. For just an hour.

The Bremont watches that I have seen are well made (designed by 2 English brothers but made in their workshops in Switzerland) very robust ( I would say that they are as strong and as sturdy as a Rolex Sub)
But IMO a bit on the expensive side and of course they have yet to build up a history. But I'm sure that will come.

I don't think i will go either but then again it is virtaully on my doorstep. As you say they have no History but people might have said the 60-80 years ago with rolex and look at them now!! You just never know. They are a very new brand and I also agree a bit expensive for what they are. But imagine owning one of the early bremonts and in 50 years what it might be worth. Pure speculation but one just never knows

i have had a GMT for 10 years and have just got a Bremont ALT1-P. I don't consider it a step down at all - I've had far more favourable comments about the Bremont than the Rolex.

I think the case design of the Bremont is excellent - it is a big watch but it doesn't seem so on the wrist due to the 3 part design - the detailing on the side of the watch visually thins the case. The back of the watch looks great as well with the window.

The watch is 100 times easier to read than the rolex - a quick glance and you register the time immediately. All the buttons/bezel etc have a good feel. On the other hand there are minor details such as the cutoff numbers that are a bit weird.

I've quickly become used to a leather strap after the metal Rolex as well.

Overall I know its a bit of a risk buying into a new watch company but the watch is good.

DLC (black diamond coated) case, GMT 7753 modified, internal bezel, Crowns are knurled with the same pattern as Spitfire tires. The 30 min counter at 12 o clock is milled from alluminium taken from the actual Spitfire and is based on the Trip Clock. The EP120 is one of only 4 still active MkV Spitfire planes in the world, EP120 is the name of the watch and call sign for the plane. EP120 fought in WWII and has 7 confirmed kills and is thought to be one of the most successful fighter planes in WWII.
The rotor (show on the back) will also be made from metal from this historic plane. For the strap they are trying to use the original material that was used for the Spitfire Pilots parachute and the same hue so a type of textile strap(tbc)
Only 120 pieces will be made. Only ONE left in stock, limited edition number 7

It is very pricey but has a beautiful look to it and could be a nice collector item due to what it is made of and the unique nature of it.

I don't think the watches, in general, will hold their value long term as it is an up and comer in a field of well established brands with long and storied histories.
