The speedy is no conciliation prize. It’s the real deal. I’m saying this while wearing my daytona as well. Daytona broke no new ground. Is was just a chrono with an outsourced movement that got associated with a movie star. The “Rolex” brand lifted up what was well known to be a watch that did not sell well for Rolex. The speedy was the first watch with a tachymeter and beat out Rolex offerings in the nasa tests.

Enjoy a great watch with a real history and story behind it, not a fabricated or inflated one.

Exactly right. Memory fails me now, but one of our members DCheeta (?) said it best in a comparison between the speedy and a sub: you can't really compare the two, they're apples and oranges. The current Speedmaster is a vintage watch that Omega kept on manufacturing. Therefore, it's useless to compare it to, say, a 6 digit sub. A fair comparison would be between the speedy and a 70's daytona.

Indeed, sir. Good memory.

Daytona is a beautiful watch, but I bought AND sold two Daytonas while my Speedmaster remains firmly in the collection.

I thought it was you, my friend. That observation hit the nail on the head!
