Master Chronometer Losing Time

Have had my Seamaster Professional 300M for about 2 months now. It went from being +2 sec/day and now it loses about -0.5 to -1 sec/day. I know it’s not a huge deal and the watch is crazy accurate, but I think the tolerance for METAS movements is somewhere like 0 to +5 sec/day or so. Is this something that you guys would send the watch back to Omega for? Thanks!

It's your watch, you should be happy with it.

Good point. It's just that every now and then, the watch gains +1 sec/day. I would send it to Omega, but if it's something that takes weeks to resolve, I'd rather have it regulated when the watch is way out of spec.

I would give it more time and see what happens. If something is wrong then it will continue to exhibit symptoms, and they may become more pronounced. Sounds like you have plenty of time to make a claim under warranty if needed.

I would sit tight and measure the timing for a longer time frame. Do the daily but also get the average for the week. I would never send a watch back for the little bit of variation you are experiencing but I would pay attention. Great watch also.

I would not want my watch opened for this kind of performance

The service center can do a quick diagnostic for you if you live close to one (even if it’s still operating inside the specifications). I have an aqua terra 15’000 gauss that went from being as precise as a Rolex Milgauss to a little more variable and the service center diagnosed is as having an out of spec amplitude oscillator. It was under warranty and they fixed it for free. It’s back to being as accurate as a Rolex superlative chronometer.

So your watch is running -1 to +2 per day. That’s every WIS’s dream ... be happy and enjoy it !
