Just bought a new bracelet for my vintage Seamaster

Happened to be online browsing and saw a rose gold (plated) bracelet, that i am hoping will fit my vintage RG Seamaster. So I went ahead and bought it, so heres fingers crossed.

Looks in very good condition, in my humble and totally not an expert opinion.

I looked on line for examples and it seems to match one i managed to find, i.e. links across etc. 4 across on the gap link and 3 across on the end link. If that makes sense.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks in advance.

Looks good and good find. I’m hoping I can find a mesh bracelet for my ‘68 Chronostop one day.

Thank you, first foray into buying stuff for my Omega. Which is currently on a non genuine leather strap.

This isn't my picture i have "Borrowed" it from the Internet for illustration purposes. But it is the same i am pretty sure.

Haven't had the watch out in quite a while. keep forgetting about, plus don't like the strap currently on it.

Thank you. If it fits i think it will look pretty good. Give the old watch a new lease of life and get some wrist time.

If not then will get a nice brown leather strap and put the rose gold buckle from the old strap onto the new. But really hoping this will fit though.

Good luck with your bracelet search.

Well the "New" bracelet arrived on time and well packaged. I have not seen it yet but my wife said its in really good condition and looks great.

Wasn't bad for 55GBP plus 2.50 GBP P&P. Feeling quite chuffed to be honest. Fingers crossed it fits lol.

Will update with pics, when i get to actually fit it to my watch.

Fitted at last, but not too sure

Eventually got around to fitting the new bracelet i bought.

Not to sure on it, it seems a few mil to narrow for the shoulders. Uncertain its the correct bracelet for the watch? Managed to size it myself as it was massive, which i was very pleased to do.

Seamaster.jpeg

Even Bess isn't too sure on the fit.....

Jury is out currently, although its allowing it get some wrist time i suppose. Must admit its not too noticeable to the naked eye, when wearing the watch.

Thoughts?

Sorry ol’ chap, that’s the wrong size.

(Trying to match your overt Britishness)

In all seriousness, I wish you luck in finding the right size. Do you know the proper lug to lug width? If not, and the internet is of no help with that info, buy a cheap digital caliper off amazon. They can be had for around £10.

And if a proper matching bracelet cannot be located, I would suggest you work with some of the quite talented custom leather strap makers.

This is one whom has done some work I admire:

https://www.combat-straps.com/GALLERY.html

Some of his straps are a bit extreme... but, tucked in the gallery are some positively simple beauties.

Another solid maker (grab it before BREXIT!!):
https://molequin.com/

I would think the simple elegance of the molequin style would be killer on your seamaster. The hardest part should be choosing the right color.

Good luck!

Haha thanks for the reply. Yes it seems 2mm off i would say. 18mm strap to 20mm lugs.

I have been looking at leather as i think it is the way forward, with a rose gold Omega buckle. I have even toyed with the idea of a patterned NATO, striped of course.

The bracelet was 55 quid plus 2 quid postage so not too big a bath on it. Too be honest its a bit to much rose gold for me personally.

Put it down to one of those lessons learned, although i was quite pleased with sizing it up myself.

Toodil Pip, what what.

All over that site recommendation molequin, thanks for that. Think i have found a solution.

I love that blue mer... but I’m not 100% sure how it would look against rose gold.

Yes thats why a 2nd opinion is good. They had it shown against gold, not sure if RG. Looks sweet tho.

There is a Blanc Casse, but again not to sure. Looks good maybe for my Sub. Prices are good might have a bit of a try out.

Hmmm... the blue and yellow gold isn't terrible. And that yellow has faded quite a bit, so it might be close to your seamaster.

Honestly, I think you'd have to try it together to really know if it works or not.

I've been eyeing that exact strap for a while, but I don't think it would pair too well with any of the watches I currently own. I've actually got my eye on buying another watch just to put it on that strap (because I am irresponsible).

Please update us on what you try out!

Could be the Blanc casse. Or go for the traditional boring brown. Just fancy something in the stable to zip it up, you know bit of colour. Prices are good, so think i might just try some out.

Will keep you posted.

I do hope the blue looks good, because the strap is such a nice color.

Other thoughts:

There are a few greens that might pop and be more fun than brown.

The granite suede might be really nice. The color isn't too exciting, but there's just something about a dress watch on a casual suede strap.
