New Watch Shipped With Crown Unscrewed

New Watch Shipped With Crown Unscrewed

Just received a new watch straight from Omega and I was surprised that the crown was unscrewed.
In the first position but unscrewed.

I’m sure as long as it was packed well you have nothing to worry about.

I don't think so either but I did find it to be odd.
It was in a plastic coffin.

I wonder if there is something to keeping everything locked up for shipping purposes.

You’re right, kind of weird.

I remember someone once posted on here a picture of a display of Rolex watches at an AD where every watch had the crown unscrewed

Kinda weird too

Idk why they do it

But as long as nothing looks wet or moisture inside the crystal I would think that you should be good

There’s a first for everything, and I’ve never seen this before either.

I’m sure everything is fine, but it makes me wonder, was the watch handled by someone at the AD first?

Ive seen cheap watches ship with a plastic tab underneath the crown, never a high end.

It’s seems unusual

Was it quartz or mechanical? Quartz watches are often shipped or displayed with their crown in the "setting" position to stop the movement and reduce battery drain. Sometimes with a plastic tab to keep the crown secured in that position.

With nearly 1M watches boxed per year, it’s not unthinkable that someone in the QC or logistics packing department forgot to screw down the crown. They’re only human.

Is it a Seamaster?

Just the crown would be okay, but if the Helium valve was open, it’ll need to be refilled with Helium before you get it wet.

Don’t take any chances!

At least I think it was supposed to be.

Shouldn’t be a big deal. The package is not expected to be emerged in water, and if it dies having an open crown will be the least of your concerns
